Default Any updates on Tred Barta?

Been surfing the net and cant find any updates on the man. Guy is an inspiration to many. His show is my favorite by far.

A guy who builds his own longbow and arrows then shoots that many trophies with it is in my mind a legend. He brings hunting back to the way it should be.

So anyone hear if he is doing any better? He had a spinal stroke and it pretty much paralyzed from what I get out of it.

Been thinking about naming my next kid Tred. Middle or first name. Thats a sweet name.

Stickbow has another interview with him. He is home and shooting a bow. Will do his show out of a wheelchair. Tough man.

That final message was pretty good and something we all should listen to.

For every guy that likes Tred there is one that doesn't. His doing it the hard way has been an argued topic for many years. He has injured and lost a lot of game over the years because of his "Look at me mentality".

Personally I have mixed feelings on the subject. He has accomplished a great deal in his lifetime. Probably more than I could ever dream of. His show has also given the animal rights activists a lot of ammo against hunting. The show where he kills the boar with his knife was a little over the top. He got a ton of bad press over that little incident. He has endangered his life and the lives of others on a few of his "doing it the hard way" hunts where the guides have saved him and his crew. Lots of articles on the net about Tred, some good...some bad. I say good for him if he's gonna get back after it from a wheel chair. Personally I hope he uses a crossbow from now on. Hard enough just hunting outta a chair I'm sure.

I enjoyed his shows.. I agree though the pig thing was a bit much.. Unfortunately loosing an animal is going to happen..

The two shows that REALLY stood out in my mind with him was his moose hunt where they had to portage a canoe over the land to the moose that was in the water.
And the ELK HUNT and the Trout fishing in Colorado

I liked the drake mallard in the feedlot with his crossbow. The guy hunts just like the indians use to. I know I couldn't. good health to all

Found an update.

This guy takes hunting to the next level. Makes you appreciate a hunt even though you dont get anything. Seriously watching his shows have inspired me and changed the way I think about hunting.

Great show for kids to watch to as his messages are something to live by.

If you havent ever seen his show I suggest you check into it. He is on VS. The best and worst of Tred Barta.

Barta doesnt have a mentality like that. He is trying to convey his message of get out there and hunt the hard way and actually appreciate the taking of an animal. Hunt hard and put in the time and dont forget to stop and smell the flowers on the way.

I can only think of one episode where he cant find his animal and that was the bull elk that he shot too far back in the guts. You make it sound like he is some type of moron that doesnt know how to use his weapon. All Tred does is practice. He even sets up "play hunts" in realistic situations just so he is ready when that small window of opportunity presents itself.

Someday I would love to spend 9 years after a grizzly bear with a homemade longbow. Talk about an accomplishment.

thing I always love about his shows, he is not afraid to show "misses". That episode of crane hunting and the one of duck hunting was full of misses, just like it is.

To me he comes across as someone who's arrogance is only surpassed by his ego. Big eye tuna and the stick+string accomplishments aside, I'll bet he's gotten popped in the mouth more than once in his lifetime because someone took exception to his class A, in your face, aggressive type persona.

First off OMG. Thanks for posting this Ty. I switched to Direct TV and don't get VS tv anymore. I used to DVR Tred. I had no idea.

I have watched his show for years. To say that the man is unconventional is an understatement. I personally don't agree with everything that Tred does or says, but he appeared to support all sportsman regardless of your personal beliefs or pursuits.

I can't speak for TY, but I will say that part of the appeal of Tred's show is how personal he gets and how close he lets the show come into his own life. There really is no other outdoor show like it. For gods sake, he let them film him in the shower in one show.

I will pray for Tred and hope they find a cure for him. He can say what he wants on camera, we know he is a mans man, but this has to be killing him.

God Bless Tred.

This is why I like the show. Its not a show about blasting animals and the same ol crap you see. Its about the hunt and lots of times he comes up empty handed. Hmmm....... sounds to me that its like real hunting.

Thats why I love it.

I think the guy is a great hunter. Yeah he is arrogant and his theme song is about him but other than that who hunts that hard with a wooden bow and homemade arrows. He might loose a few animals on the way, but even with a high power you loose game every now and then. He supports hunting no matter what the weapon, but his message is very true. We have gotten very lazy as hunters, box ladder stands, rangefinders, electronic sights, amazing rifles that shoot 1,000 plus yards. Tred you the man.
