Four Bluewings and six Greenwings for us three. Hunted the eastern basins til about 10. Had a couple groups of 50+ flying around.

Saw a decent amount of big ducks as well this morning.

Good to get out!

One group of my buddies had their limits of teal pretty quick and another group had 16 honkers as of about 10am this morn.

The wife and shot our birds in less than a hour. Passed up dozens of flocks in the fog to try to make the hunt lasta bit. Saw lots of mallards and pintails also.

Everywhere we have checked today has water and ducks.

That's good to hear. We'll be doing our scouting about 1:00 tomorrow morning since I haven't had the chance to get out there yet.

Had a pretty good opening day, only got to shoot into 2 flocks and one other flock landed outside the dekes after watching us wreck their buddies. Ended with 16. For the last 3 weeks there were around 11 flocks going into it...go figure they would pick opening morning to hang out all day at the roost and eat grass. Good thing is we got to shoot some and the ones that didnt come out well get later in the week. Nice to get back out and shoot some honks. Good work on the scouting by Joe (waterfowljunky). Big thanks.

Had another field lined up but with only a few birds using it we were planning on letting it build up. After yesterdays shoot I think we had the bug a little too much and decided to just go for it. Put out a big spread hoping to catch a few flocks comin in/out of town. Fog in the morning really made it hard and because of it we had some missed opportunities. Had geese landing in the decoys and you couldnt even see them. After the fog burned off we got a flock of 7 to do it real nice and we cleaned out the entire bunch. Momma and Pops were sporting leg bands! Feels so good to finally be out there again.

Hunters were thick as flies on a carcass at the first 3 basins I went to. Finally found water, birds and few hunters at the 4th. Showed up late by that time and got skunked. Went back this morning with 2 other guys and got our birds.

21 honks, one teal and 75 doves today.

Doves were thicker today than on the opener.

Recap of this weekend in the basins:

Sat- Shot an easy 2 man in a matter of minutes. 10 shells between the two of us. Had another group set up within 100 yards of us. Got shot (couldn't call this hard of a hit "peppered"), broke my buddies skin. Ripped them a new one, and was out of the marsh and cooking breakfast before the group had more than a few teal. Got checked 3 times throughout the day on Saturday. Twice by feds, once by a state warden. All of them were very courteous and some great COs. Talked with one for about an hour in the afternoon. Great guy, and a pleasure to shoot the breeze with.

Sun- Had to work a little for the 2-limit. The same group that popped us the day before showed up. Much thicker fog. Group of five pins flys over us and lands in our dekes. They get up and fly over the other group. Hear a single shot, and a big duck splash from shooting a high duck. Only way a teal could make that sound is if you shot them springing, and there was no volley going on to spring up a flock of teal. The kiss of death was when the flock of pins flies back over us; only 4 are left. I am heated beyond belief and get on the horn with a state warden I know ASAP. He showed up and questioned them when they got back to the truck. They claimed it was a teal and they lost it in the weeds. Not being able to see where they stomped it, the CO and us were screwed and they got off. At least they didn't shoot any other ducks that day, while we were walking home with a limit.

Today- Took the layout boat out solo just for grins. Easy solo limit of bluewings. Switched marshes to another that was loaded up and had the pleasure of having the marsh to myself and barely able to hear anyone else around me shooting in the distance. Here is today & the boat.

13 more limits to go, teal season should really start to heat up with the next system of low pressure.

Wow, great job everyone. I've never been out after any waterfowl before, looks like a hoot!

Considering the possession limit, I would be out of friends to give them to, not to mention tired of duck & noodles every day!

Just a "friendly reminder".
