YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!

Words cant describe how glad I will be spending my weekend in the boat with LOTS of heat and food. Bring it on Specks, we will be setup, ready, and waitin for ya.
I didn't get to whip out the -20 sleeping bag until late October last year except the time I forgot my light bag and had to bake in that thing overnight for early teal.

Heater is all rigged up in mine ready to go, wish I had room for a stove.

60's and lows in the 40's is a nice opener. But either way 20 degrees is not a good thing. Either we see a nice migration of early ducks, none of which stick around because of all the pressure thereby screwing the next few weeks. Or we get to get ice on our nuts shooting a bunch of teal.

Yay. Real season starts on Monday.

I'm just glad my cousin and I decided on a nice off season edition, a 16 ft'er w/ a nice hard blind, 2 heaters, and a stove, i can't believe we will already have to use the heaters on opening weekend....haha but i'm lookin forward to some blind breakfast, beats hoofin' it in....haha

Went on a lil scouting trip this morning....if opener is anything like today I'm going to be pissed. Three geese.......thats it.....three stupid local honkers. Oh an I almost forgot....two pissed off king fishers. No migration movement, no puddle jumpers...nothing. The cool weather makes me itch for season to start, but sure ain't bringin any birds through yet. Pushed the teal out, and it isn't cold enough for any bigger ducks to come through yet.

scouted a few basins this morning, still no pumps on. Saw a few flocks of teal and a couple flocks of big ducks. Not sure what they are waiting on with the pumping?

I think they are waiting for the first real hard freeze. That way there will be a week of huntable and stageable water in the basins before they are solid.

Im thinking with the water and crop conditions up north still, most birds will stick it out for a little while, but we'll see a push of greys and specks though I hope. Heard specks tonight as a matter of fact over the lake. Wait a minute...Heaters? 20 degrees?! Is that why the LPE needs to be pushed back
Just poking fun...if a heater was worth a darn in the weeds Id use one too!

Should be a memorable duck opener for sure no matter what! I love this weather its what duck hunting is all about!

Gonna be a memorable opener all right...

"Remember the year that we froze our "boys" off for 2 Spooners and a teal?"

If things pan out like they have...this year should even tell the most hard headed that weather isnt the only thing that kicks off the migration.

This is only my second season of waterfowl and I am starting to get sick with anticipation. I never got this pumped for spring turkey or ringneck season. Good luck to everyone.

Im thinking a big plate of "chit on a shingle" with afew eggs will be a slice of heaven Sat morning while we wait out the Snow and the migration that should be roaring up right behind it.

Just stepped outside to walk the dog and heard two groups of Specks fly over town (Seward).

Bring on the migration!

Reports arent meaning much to me right now. Birds or not ill be out there and having a good time. Man I love opening morning. Logan will be on his first opening morning. Going to be a rough one but Ill make him tough. haha

EDIT: Logan isnt going now. It feels like the last day of the season out instead of opening day. HA

two of us shot three, should have shot a 2-man limit easy but they decided to bomb into the lake over the hill
