Waterfowl Migration Map: Follow the Ducks This Season

looks like the reports are lighting up, so is S.D...Long range(will probaly change again) looks goood around the middle of the month. hopefully PO won't have to drive hundreds of miles to pound em. the PR is high and doesn't look like it will drop anytime soon...this is not a good thing. how can all the rivers be high and the rwb dry as a bone? REUSE PITS! Well I am going out tomm and should be better. some activity this am on river.

That widgeon is something special! Nice work.

I got the smoker rolling...looks like goose jerky for me in the am. Might sneek a piece in this evening while it's still warm.

Didn't make it out this morning. I woke up and felt like I was run over by a truck. Figured hell with it. Back at it tomorrow.

Seemed very slow where we were at in the basins, I was expecting some more action. Everything that decoyed got shot, Sorny and I ended with 4 wigs and 2 pintails. It was a good morning to have someone to hunt with, lots of time between very few flocks. Mostly pintails seen, almost no teal, and some snows. Checked other spots on the way home and saw no birds. I'm sure there around somewhere, I'm guessing the smallish population out in the basins right now is well patterned. We had a couple singles, pairs take peek and then boogie, and we had a couple flocks bomb in with out a single hesitation, maybe the difference between arriving here last week and arriving yesterday.

This pimped out Widgeon looked so good he had 3 ladies with him, none escaped.

went up to Platte, SD for a pheasant hunt over the weekend, drove from yankton area to platte just after sun-up. saw a lot of ducks in that area, just about right at half of the potholes we drove by had big ducks on them, ranging from small to large flocks. a lot of ducks in the platte area, however, there is also A LOT of open water in the fields and potholes right now and it was around 50 both days we hunted...

Hunted small basin south of Kearney yesterday. It was pretty nice outside and there wasnt much action at all. Things seemed pretty dead and I didnt see any ducks on any of the small ponds around the area. Did manage to shoot 4 birds but it wasnt pretty.

Ducks are wary. Looking forward to tomorrows N wing. Hunted friday and picked out all drakes. It was some work to get them past the point, but after they committed they were done for. 2 green, 2 drake gads, and a bull sprig. Slept in over the weekend and looking forward to tomorrow morning. Lots of divers around in the basins, should see some more tomorrow. Hopefully that bull can flies by!

Nice work. I'm gonna be laying out in the basin tomorrow on a solo mission hoping for a prayer with the north wind. Good Luck to everyone going out in the am.

I talked to a buddy of mine who just got back from North Dakota. They shot a ton of gads, widgeon, and mallards last week. Still a lot of birds up there. ND is having some prime hunts right now.

Hunted the Platte on Saturday and much to my suprise, me and my buddy did pretty well. We woke up to darn near t-shirt weather with not a breath of wind. My expectations were not high. However, the birds we seen seemed to love our set up, sometimes didnt even circle. Shot ten between the two of us, 7 mallards, two widgeon, and a teal. It seemed like most of mallards didnt get up and move around till after sun up. Did most of our shooting in the first hour and a half, then after bout 830, they seem to shut off. Very fun hunt though. Unfortanetly, I celebrated the Husker win a little too hard Sat night, and didnt make it out Sun morning.

Didn't see anything new today in the basins except for geese. Could have RIPPED a flock of 50 snows that flipped all the way into the speck floaters just a few minutes before legal. All balled up, 20 yards in front of me about 5 yards off the water... it was hard to hold back. Saw a big flock of chickens and a few more snows. Nothing for ducks. 2 shells and 2 drakes, a pimp pin with a nice spring and a drake wig. Let both the hens go. Messed up a flock of gads at about 8, and other than that, that is all she wrote.

Hopefully this stream brings a few more birds down this PM and tonight.

Went out on the river south of Omaha this morning and had the worst duck hunt of the year so far. Saw one flock of mallards around 8:30 and a 12 pack of canadas that didn't seem to want anything to do with calls or dekes. I did get the fun responsibility of having to take apart my gun to clean the sand out of all the moving parts!!! Willhunts dog ate all my duck jerky (lol), oh and not to mention my cell phone was emersed in water for about 10 mintues...what a hunt!

emersed
Pronunciation: \(ˌ)ē-ˈmərst\Function: adjective
Date: 1686
: standing out of or rising above a surface (as of a fluid) <emersed aquatic weeds

I think you meant submerged here. Sorry couldn't help it.

No it was correctly pronunciated, just mispelled. : Immersed

im⋅mersed
–adjective 1.plunged or sunk in or as if in a liquid.2.Biology. somewhat or wholly sunk in the surrounding parts, as an organ.3.Botany. growing under water.
