Managed to fill my first archery tag of the year this morning. Not a monster but a decent buck and pretty antlers. He was hot after a couple does, shot him at about 10 yards. Not my biggest with a bow but will make lots of good meals!
Here are a few pictures, enjoy: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Good work looks like he has a pretty good size body, and the rack isn't bad. For this time of year you should be proud of you're kill! Most people have given up by now.

Ok, so I have to fess up. I did miss a deer last Friday. Actually it was a really cool miss!
I was at my in-laws farm. About 4:00 I looked out the back door and there were two does about 200 yards behind the house! I snuck through the house and out the front door, then kept the tree row between me and the deer. Managed to get within about 40 yards of one of them. She saw something and came closer - to about 30 yards but then appeared to relax. When she turned broadside I let the arrow fly. As the arrow arched toward it's intended target, she heard the bow and turned to run away. In my mind it was almost in slow motion watching the arrow moving toward the target and the doe dropping down to turn around. You guessed it, the arrow went 3 or 4 inches over her back!It was the first time in a long time I've had a deer jump the string like that. I actually started laughing afterward and still chuckle when I see the mental image of her "ducking" the arrow... Since MeatHunter called me out, I figured I would fess up.... ![]()
