Grab yourself some waders and long stick and see for yourself. When it comes to water in the winter, I would rather trust myself than somebody else.

Except for a few spots, its really deep. Where you see the weeds sticking up is actually a good 8-10' if not deeper.

I thought the same thing as you when I went earlier this year. Good thing we hunt out of a boat and our strings are really long. That place can turn into a real zoo on weekends and probly holidays like tomorrow.

Good advice from brademan as he told you it was deep. Where I was leaning towards is if somebody said it's shallow.

Heres a contour map from the ngpc. As you can see after the remodel, it really drops off quickly from the bank.

There are little retaining wall things between the actual shoreline and them main lake creating a little channel that is only a few foot deep and maybe 15 foot wide. ( I think they do this for erosion). I've seen guys try to hunt out of these holes before too, but I have no idea if they ever have any luck.

Not what it used to be for waterfowling.... was great before the renovation but now it is way to deep in about 95% of it to waterfowl hunt. Took the boat blind out there a couple weeks ago and only found 1 spot on the whole lake it was shallow enough to setup. Tons of ducks/geese using the lake at that time.

Like the rest said...its really deep. We hunted it last week, boat up against the shore, and stepped off to grab a greenhead: water over the waders, maybe 6 foot from shore. Pretty risky

There are plenty of other salt valley lakes to waterfowl hunt that are much shallower than Yankee Hill.
