Is it okay to shoot black cloud through a pattern master i have heard both sides to the story i heard it is bad and just messes up the choke and i also heard that black cloud patterns the best out of them. Any help would be great i am killing geese tomorrow!!

I personally do not shoot black cloud or patternmasters, but have heard it is not a good deal. The patternmaster is wad restricting choke, while the black cloud's hype is that the wad stays with the shot longer, so if conflicts. I did see that there is now a special "black cloud" patternmaster.

Wouldnt try it.
Patternmaster has made a choke designed for BC. Word on the street is, it puts the terrors to shame on paper.

I got a buddy that shoots it and swears by it. All of them shoot 3.5"s too and swear by those. I guess I have never really encountered a problem with shooting standard HV 3". Just a few extra bones i could spend elsewhere but thats just me.

my reccomendation is to buy the BC patternmaster, bcz you will get the best pattern out of the new BC PM, or you can just save yourself a couple bucks like James has said in the previous post and shoot the HV.

Definitely wouldn't advise shooting Black Cloud out of a pattermaster unless it is the patternmaster specificly made for Black Cloud. The word from Patternmaster is that once in awhile Black Cloud will blow out the choke or barrel because the choke is restricting it too much. The new choke that they came out with is supposed to take care of this problem when shooting Black Cloud.

check their site. It says DO NOT shoot it thru a patternmaster.
About saying its junk I gotta say that Ive only shot about 3 boxes of it myself but other friends in the crew shoot it too and WOW is it crazy. If you ask me its all I will shoot at big canadas anymore. I used to go buy some hevi shot once in a while for late season but the price of this is a lot better. I call them BLACK DEATH with their huge black casings in 3.5" #2

I shoot a pattern master and love it. I have also heard bad stuff about black cloud and patternmasters. personally, i like shooting the HV 3'', it takes geese down easy enough.

I shoot HV all the time too. Buy cases of the stuff but even though ive never patterned my gun or anyone elses with it I know it drops them dead and thats what I like. I can tell you thru a couple boxes I dont remember a crip with them. In fact snow goosing this spring me the boys were all shooting Black Death and we dropped like 15 out of one volley and there wasnt one crip. That was our first time really shooting them. Right then and there I was sold for life. Results dont lie.

I don't like the Blackclouds. I had a buddy who was shooting them and the wad got stuck in the choke. Everything blew out the action but it was still pretty scary. I heard with the BC Patternmaster, that problem is completely eliminated though.
