Had a great day in the field today....Got out at about 230 and ended with a three man rooster limit at 430...This wind made for some fun/tough shooting and made the birds hold fairly well. My dog wasn't worth crap on sunday, but surely made up for it today. Had several very good retreieves on running wounded birds, and held a majority of the birds we shot today. There was one retreive in particular where a crippled managed to hide himself way up in the wall of a creek bed. After 10 minutes of not finding him, we came back after walking the draw and Doc managed to dig him out of his hole. Not sure how he managed to find him, but I was sure happy.
Still not too sure about the bird numbers this year. Thought they were looking fairly good a couple weeks ago, but after talking to a few farmers and these last few walks I'm not too sure. Still decent numbers of birds, but I would say its down from last year in my area. Now that I have a few limits under my belt, I think Ill bust the camera out next hunt. Happy hunting ![]() |

If you like, you can send fly tying materials to
(tails and such) NEFGA PO Box 31443 Omaha, NE 68131 We'll list what we get on the forum and get it distributed to all the fly and jig makers. |

No need to do anything extra with feathers, but if you're mailing a buck (or doe) tail, or any kind of raw fur, for that matter, please do stick it in a baggie with powdered Borax. (You should be able to find Borax in the detergent aisle of the supermarket. It's pretty cheap.)

you want the whole tail? or would you rather just have some of the hair cut off?? just curious for future reference?
also, can the rooster tail feathers be the secondary tail feathers? or do they have to be the primary feathers? you can have all the secondaries I get for now on if you guys want em. |
