I've been doing some reading on other hunting forums about deer seeing UV as a blueish hue. I'm curious, what is your opinions about the UV killing products? Necessary? Not necessary but helpful? Waste of money?
I know there are a lot of products out there to help disguise hunters from deer's eyes & noses. I'm not doubting the necessity of scent-eliminating products, especially while bowhunting; I'm just wondering if the UV products are as necessary as the hunting shows make it seem??? Is there evidence that this stuff works? Just wondering what your takes on this are.

deer do see in certain shades and can't discern others. i use UV clothing wash, but i've killed many deer without it. my opinion, another marketing tool to sell hunters something they don't really need. the wash is not anymore expensive then regular scent killing detergent so i buy the ones with the UV dampeners.

I'm more apt to worry about their noses too instead of their eyeballs. I hate having a staring competition with a deer! I think they are more apt to see a big lollipop in a tree then the UV colors that lollipop is emitting.
I'm not a believer in it, prefer to set up a tree stand so I have cover protecting me from their eyes until an arrow is in the air. Just my .02 though too. |

Deer see colors in the blue green spectrum, They don't see well in the red/ yellow spectrum, that is why blaze orange does not stand out to a deer. |

Someone sent me a homemade wash, I have it saved at home. If I can find it when I do get home I'll post it up.
*table spoon white wine vinegar* Thanks DiggerD.

yes, it sounds like a sale that is not needed.
