Secured permission for some more land. Here's a ariel photo of it, the land is outline in red. If you were bowhunting here, where you would you place a stand?

i would say on the corner where the creek bends, you would intercept deer coming both ways up the creek to feed in the beans. it would aslo be a highly traveled area for cruising bucks, i'd imagine. a stand somwhere inside the treeline on the SW corner of the beans would be good. i always take into account what direction the wind usually blows when hanging stands as well. there is my two cents. good post, that was fun.

I like the spot north of the I in image along that fence row that runs south east and put one up in the pocket.
Another spot is North East of 'e' in globe up in that area too. However if you want a short walk and drag setting up close to the bean field would be nice too.. I would probalby play the wind for there are numerous locations to use it looks like. If you want someone else to help find out where the deer are let me know i'll set pu on the otherside of the property.. LOL Good luck! |

I put up a new image with a grid layout on it to help with location. I don't know why the numbers are showing up blury, but on the top it goes from 1-11 from left to right. On the left side it goes 1-10 from bottom to top. Thanks guys.

My suggestion would be to take a little time and do some scouting with your binocs. Get in there and quietly walk the terrain take note of well traveled trails, rubs, scrapes etc etc. Then place your stand/stands according to the wind take extra precaution to not disrupt anything. Then when the wind is right sneak in there and put the hammer down on em. If no one else hunts this ground you may have found a cornucopia of unsuspecting bucks, if that's the case it will be easier for you to score. Good luck BP.

I drew on your map so I hope you get the idea I am thinking. Anyway, I think it's safe to say they will feed on corn or afalfa for the most part. I marked probable bedding areas and also circle with an X for spots I would scout to put a stand. Depending on deer sign when I actually set foot on those spots. The arrow are my thinking of the deer returning to bed down for the day. You would have to check the trails firsthand to see what the travel corridors are. But if I had to guess I would put stands up on the circle and X spots if I had a choice. Try to catch them in the morning coming back to bed and in the evening heading out to feed. It would also give you north and south wind options. Good Luck and let us know what you find.

I think 8 over and just above 5 up where that line of trees goes across the bend would be a good travel area during the rut. Looks like a good piece of land though. There's a lot of choices there.

9 - 5 looking over the bean field would be one place I would place a tree stand or ground blind.

Can you tell me if there is water/creeks or swampy area in the trees. I would think this helps decide were to put a stand.

I would walk the west fence line looking for the trail with the most use to it coming from the corn. Look for a secondary trail just off the main trail and setup there. Unfortunately the deer are probably going to sit in the corn during the day until it's picked. With the weather the way it has been, the corn will be picked just in time for New Year's. Hopefully you'll get some pre-rut and rut movement. |

Got out and watched the fields this morning around 730-8. Saw deer in the cut beans and coming out of the corn. Got out of the truck and walked for a couple hours also. Found alot of deer sign, tracks everywhere. I located some main travel corridors and bedding areas.
Also found some rubs. I'm pretty sure there's a big buck roaming the property, I've got his bedding area nailed down. I've got a few stands and blinds to put up, but won't be able to do much untill things start to dry out, hopefully before the weekend is over. Here's a little teaser picture. ![]()

Yeah, theres a creek running throuh the land, kind of hard to describe, but you can kind of see it. There's quite a bit of water running through it after all this snow and rain melt.

I outlined it in green, the branch that comes in from the north is about 1 foot wide and maybe ankle deep. The main part of the creek ranges from 3-4 ft. wide up to around 12-15ft. wide.
