Nice buck racksnipper!
Had a late night tracking job with a friend last night, and boy was it tough. With all this rain we had the cornfield had standing water in it, so it was pretty much like tracking this buck through a marsh. After an hr. of two of looking for the buck with flash lights we finally found him in the middle of a cornfield. Boy were we pumped!! My friend that shot this had his mom in the stand with him last night, which made the hunt even cooler. 5 minutes after Jacks buck came in, another buck of this quality followed the exact same path. Jacks mom tried to pull off a shot, but one of her gloves dropped and the buck spotted them. 8 yard shot field dressed at 150 lbs. ![]() ![]() The trackers ![]() |

Rattled in a basket 3X3 this morning. Then at 10:30 after getting a new stand hung I saw a doe come running towards me. She had a 2 1/2 year old small buck chasing her. Even got to hear him grunt once. It seems like the young bucks are starting to chase the early hot does.......Tell your buddy NICE BUCK huskerbowhunter!!

Good action tonight. Had one small buck come in and check a scrape, and also had a few does filter by. I've got a killer set up right now, i'm hoping it will produce here before too long.
Caught this little guy checkin' a scrape. This is one of the two bucks I saw this morning, only when I saw them this morning his anlter wasn't broken off on that one side, makes me think he got his butt whooped in a fight with a bigger buck and it broke off during that. Gave me plenty of shots, just not the buck i'm looking for. ![]()

Got to the stand EARLY. Got tired of bumping deer on my way in. Sat in the dark for about 45 mins listening to who the heck knows what in front of me.
Day started out great. I bet my damn heart rate was 190 bpm when I seen that big rack coming down the run way right at my stand. He had a doe in tote behind him and walked to about 10 yards of my stand. I studied his rack, a very nice 6x5, but just not that BIG monster I am looking for. I believe he is one on my trail cam. Very nice deer with lots of potential. Was going to let him walk unspooked but wacked his doe that was right behind him. About 1030 decided to call it quits and get to work on that doe. Was moving my trail cam up closer to a bedding area when I spotted another doe bedded down behind a tree. With the strong winds I made a great stalk on her and slammed her with the Muzzy at about 40 yards. Long shot but took her down nicely. 3 weeks ago I had never shot a deer with my bow now I got 3 in the freezer. Im pumped! Did see 2 other respectable bucks including one that I believe is my mounter. I rattled and grunted loudly but with the high winds could not get their attention. Also noticed some scrapes finally and lots more movement. Will be back out mid this week to try after Brutus again. Dang im hooked!

Sunday morning I saw a 130-135" 4X4 that would have been tempting if he would have came into bow range. Saw a couple other does too. Think the wind kept the movement to early morning from what I could tell. Was thinking about sitting all day, but that wind changed my mind. Didnt see any chasing like I did saturday morning.

the wind was crazy, i did not hunt last night either. there is always a flurry of rutting activity in late october when the first few does get things riled. it seems like friday night and saturday were pretty hot where i was hunting.

I noticed a lot of movement saturday night when I was out. Just about every doe I seen had a buck trailing behind her although they were little guys. Sunday morning was slow didn't see very many deer and then the wind picked up and I called it a day.

Sunday sucked! That wind was terrible, I didn't see a single deer. Saturday though was good, I saw a little flurry of rut action going on. I'm headin' out in about 45 minutes to see if the big buck i'm lookin' for shows himself.

got two small bucks to come into the decoy tonight. one was chasing a doe about 200 yds away across the bean field. hit the can and he actually left her and came over to check the doe out. she must not have been ready or there was no way he was doin that. he wasnt real big, but he was kinda cool. he was just a 3x3, but he had a second beam on his right side. he got over to the decoy and then decided he didnt want to get his butt wooped and circled behind it and eventually left.

had two bucks come into the decoy tonight. one was probably in the low 120's as a 4x4. he was running around like crazy out in a cut cornfield and then I got his attention. he made a huge loup to get down wind of the decoy and then got to about 20 yards and didnt like something about it and busted outta there. wouldnt have shot him anyway, but dont like that he didnt like something. had a 3x2 come into the decoy and hang out for a good ten minutes and he never got nervous. also saw a good buck, not sure how good, but outside his ears and tall, work a scape line that runs right past the stand I was planning on sitting in tonight and decided otherwise. Its a good 2/3 mile from the stand I sat in, and I could see nice wide antlers and thats all I know.
tons of movement right after legal light. it took me forever to get out of the tree. |

What you learned doing that will make it all the easier for you the next time. There are two kinds of deer hunters, those that have learned to track a wounded deer and those that will learn!! Good job!! ![]() |

Well somehow I talked myself into working a day of overtime tommorow. They just barely met my price to talking me into coming in. Dang!
So Friday morning its on. Cant wait to check my trail cam out in my new area. Very close quarters to a bedding area with 2 trails beat down to the mud that intersect. Should be some awesome pics. Am anxious to see if any of them are nocturnal pics. I really am not getting many pics during the night. Just right at sunrise/sunset is all.

Did some scouting the other evening when I went to hunt and found my double bull trashed by the winds. Huge tears, two broken rods, and a couple smaller things. I was too pissed to sit in one spot and hunt, so I just drove around some of my other properties and glassed out the truck window. Saw two smaller bucks, and one that is a shooter, also decided on some blind and stand spots. Now I just need to find time to move them.

hunted tonight and had a bonafied GIANT locked down with a doe out in a cut cornfield about 150 yards from me. He was chasing her all around, and she would eventually lay and he would just stand right behind her....went on from about 430 til when I left. He never took his attention off her no matter what I did. He had another good buck approach him that was probably approaching 140, but he decided he wanted nothing to do with this buck. He was at least a 10 with a bunch of trash. Id say he was a conservative 160. Never seen him before. So frustrating to watch him most of the evening while knowing my only chance was if the doe came to me. Things are very much on, hard core from here on out.
