They all may GROW 4 curls but that dont necessarily mean your ganna get 4 curls. I keep all my curls, i have had mallards that have had just 1 curl with 2 half curls....all depends i guess...

Scouting the last couple of days payed off as Danny and myself came across a cornfield with a large number of mallards in it. There was another good sized group within a mile south of the large field. The field to the north was off limits so Danny got ahold of the guy to the south as he knew him. Got on a field between the roost and the main feed and ran some major traffic. Thousands of birds came out an hour before legal was over and the entire time we had tornado after tornado over the top of us. The first bunch of the day circled us a good 3 or 4 times before attracting every duck within 20 miles. We made a mistake of letting them work for so long as our tornado soon grew into the thousands. Birds were setting down in front of us, behind us, next to us, Josh even got chit on. Hundreds at a time were setting down out front of us and I couldnt call the shot. I froze in amazement. Didnt ever grab the camera I was in such awe. There was a good 30 minutes of my life that was frozen and I was in utter amazement as I never had even imagined what was going on in front of me in my wildest dreams. Josh chimed in and we soon realized we need to shoot or our hunt was gonna be over without firing a shot. Ended with 12, a number that drastically underappreciates what really went on last night. I REALLLY need a nice camera. Enjoy.

Looks like you guys had an awesome hunt James way to go!
Did our scouting the past couple nights and are hitting the fields the next couple nights in a few different spots... no ducks but plenty of canadas hitting the corn, hopefully with the weather coming tomorrow it will be just enough to through them off their normal patterns.

Saw lots of huge flocks of mallards today after three on the platte flyway. Not sure if there was a migration or if they were going out to feed in big groups, but some seemed to be flying awful high. Probably saw a group around a half mile long flying west. Tons of birds. Had a group of about 500 or so fly directly over the dekes but I had an all goose spread out and they didn't give me much of a look, but they were definitely going out to feed. Did manage to scratch a few geese tn.

went with Tony this afternoon to a private lake that was ALL OPEN WATER, no ice whatsoever. Threw the dekes out and had easily 1K ducks/geese fly over and had a couple peel off and take a closer look, unfortunately not close enough to shoot. They were all going to a better spread, that included all live birds, on an all private pit. Tried getting permission for a prime field on their way from one spot to another but unfortunately got denied...and the best thing is that it wasn't leased land just private land that already had a person hunting it regularly....oh well, theres more birds around...just gotta find 'em.

Yesterday Kaiserduckhelm's mangina was flaring up, so he and his camera decided to sleep in. I had to take the old Kodak out of retirement for the hero shot. Sorry I don't have any spectular HD action photos for you guys, but kaiser has been at this a long time and I hope to get there someday. The geese really worked well once the wind died down to slightly below hurricane levels and the sun came out.

Alot of new ducks have moved in over the past few days...We had flocks of mallards, gadwall, wigeon, teal, shovelers, buffleheads, goldeneye, mergansers, and bluebills all touch down in the dekes this morning. Most never got shot at, but it was a great sight none the less.

Decoyed flock after flock of ducks tonight, but somehow lost a drake.

All these clouds are pissing me off, I swear they follow me. Wish we could get the freeking sun to come out on one of these evening hunts. I think it would be 10x better.

Still lots of open water on the 'pits, duck season is just starting.

Seen a lot of geese around the area, but only two unlucky ones managed to try to drop in our spread.

Tried the field hunt approach this a.m. after scouting last night and finding a field with several hundred honkers using it. These certain birds for some reason have been hard to patteren as there is close to 1k birds in the area with alot of them being locals. For some reason they have not been hitting the same fields day in and day out and we have not been able to get on them until today. This morning was a total bust only to see a couple flocks of migrators dump right into the roost with the geese we have been watching. Decided since they were there the night before that we would try it again this evening and hopefully they would be back. We headed out around 2:30 to setup and by 3:30 the first flocks were up and headed our way. Decoyed 3 nice bunches and took 5 out of our 6 birds. The last flock that we worked had an awesome quill lakes goose in it that I spotted immediately on the first swing and I got greedy and tried for it on the next pass instead of taking the easy 15 yard candy shot to fill my limit, as my buddy did, I took feathers from it but that was it. Birds were still coming out and working the field as we were picking up. Gonna try and hit it up again tomorrow p.m. hopefully with more shooters. Did also see a couple flocks of snows migrating right before dark too.

The ducks this morning were plain GAY!!! All the ducks that got up to go feed got up off the lake and got into huge groups that were really high. The rest of the ducks just sat out in the middle of the lake. Had one lonely mallard come into the decoys, he didn't leave.

Did a little scouting also trying to find some fields. Found a field with a TON of geese in it, but then found it it was leased. Then I stumbled upon this....

Found out another group of guys had permission on it also, and the landowner said he would call me when the other guys weren't hunting it. Looks like next sunday is going to be the soonest I can get into it though due to other stuff bein in the way.

Decoyed a pile more tonight, but got short stopped by the creek birds building up. 1000s of birds decoyed to us right at legal. Might have to call for more guns and hunt the bend.

Lots of migrating geese tonight.

BP looks like you better find some time before next weekend to hunt it with a field loaded like that.

Chad lined up another nice goose hunt Friday afternoon. Birds came out early and in force. Wind was brutal, birds were out of range in seconds.

Although i didn't get permisson for the field this group has been feeding in, i did get permission for a field in their direct path that they fly over at about 30ft high. We will be putting out a mega spread and running some traffic this afternoon....I can't wait.....
