This is my best bowkill and my first archery buck as well. In my book he is a nice 5 x 5 and is probably hovering close to being a p&y, sadly I think he is 2 or 3 inches short. The goal now is to not shoot a buck until he is waaay bigger than this one.

My best bow kill is coming this year.

Great pictures everyone, some great animals you all have posted. I'm jealous.

Anyway, my best achievement with my bow is definitely a dall sheep I took when I lived in Alaska. They are hard to get with a rifle let alone a bow. I still love to whitetail hunt every chance I can though. I shot my biggest buck with a bow 2 years ago, a 4x4 scoring 140.
it worked. I just deleted 5 pics of it in this thread. Its near the top still. Nice shot

Unless your going to eat the horns or mount it, let that buck walk by. Shoot a doe

I never seen any of those pictures come up on my screen. it didn't even register on my reply count that I even replied. The last one worked with my deer after I turned my pop-up blocker off, maybe that had something to do with it.

Her is my last try with the dall sheep photo. Also seeing all the nice deer is getting the blod flowing.

That dall sheep is awesome. That's ranks as #2 on my dream hunts list, an alaskan moose with my bow just barely beats it out.

That dall sheep looks like the ultimate hunt! Do you know what the altitude was? Looks like one false step and you're going home in a body bag.

I, as well as my family loved it. We lived there 16 years but moved back to help ill family members. I also guide with Westwind Guide Service in the fall so I have been going back every fall except this one. Was planning a moose hunt with some buddies and one had some financial situations arise.

Actuallly we were only about 3,500 feet. The area we were hunting pretty much started at sea level.
In the picture you really can't see it but if that sheep would have fallen to his left when he died he would have taken about a 300 foot freefall. We turned him around to take the pictures.

I could certainly talk to you more about this in private, but what do you think I could do an archery moose hunt for? just curious. I am serious about maybe moving there for awhile, but it would be nice to see the place before I got real involved in the idea.

I killed a Dall Sheep with a rifle and I can say without a doubt that killing one with a bow is amazing.

If you are looking for a fully guided hunt it's going to be around 8K depending on the length of hunt 7 or 10 days. That doesn't include airfare to and from Alaska. If you are talking about just flying up and doing a hunt on your own and being dropped off by an air service you could probably do it for around 4K or less. That's including airfare there and back, out of state license and tags, paying an air service to drop you off and pick you up, but does not include getting the meat and antlers back to Nebraska though. If you are going to do an unguided hunt it's best to go with someone that has been there before or has experience with the area. There are many variables that can make things difficult in a hurry if you are not prepared, weather, critters, illnesses etc. I'll PM you if you would like to give me a call and I'll explain more or I'll end up writing a book.
If you are a resident there you can buy a hunting /fishing combo license for under a hundred dollars and this is what you can get in a year without any extra cost other than your time and air services, 1 moose, 1 dall sheep, 1 mtn goat, 5 caribou, 3 black bears, 1 brown bear in certain areas, as many as 5 sitka deer, some areas up to 10 wolves. There are many other smaller critters that fall into play if you get a trapping license also such as lynx, martin, beaver, fox etc.
My dad always thought I was weird to come back to Nebraska to go deer hunting when I had all that to hunt up there. I told him I loved whitetail hunting and it's much easier on the body and more relaxing to sit in a tree stand.

Here is my first archery Porcupine, taken a few seasons ago during deer season. He was about 25lbs, 8 inch quils. They were a problem for a few years at our place destroying some trees. Does anyone know what are the qualifactions for P&Y Porcupines??
Ive also got a few nice toms with my bow, i just can't find my pictures of them...
