I will admit. I never personally lost a deer to a powerbelt either. (my buddy did, but not me) Wasn't happy about there performace though.

Obviously Lane has a winning combination. If your gonna use powerbelts, definetly take Lanes advice. Use large ones and slow them down some. I also got my best performances out of them when doing this.

I still have the receipt and can take them back.

Shooting my new ML I plan to shoot either Triple 7 or Pyrodex. With my 54 cal Knight I shot Pyrodex and liked it a lot. However I've heard some good stuff about T7 but really know nothng about it.

So here goes you guys with 50 cal inlines. Give me an idea or three on a good powder to sabot/ bullet combo in the 50 cal catagory.

Below is the email I got from the boys at Knight.

Quote:
With the powerbelt bullets, I would go start at 80 grains Triple 7 FFg and work your way up, in 10 grain increments. Usually the looser fitting bullets don’t take the heavier powder charges. You can go all the way to the max 150 grain, if you just wanted to see what it would do.

Our main bullets would be the 250 or 300 Redhot bullets Knight Red Hot Bullets by Barnes® or the 290 grain polymer tip Polymer Tip or 285 ballistic boattails Spitzer Boattail . Using from 100 – 150 grains Triple 7 FFg loose powder.

THANK YOU,
Jeff Dinwiddie

If I go the route of the Barnes /RedHots I'm going with the 300's as I like the bigger sabot.

That's what I'm starting to find out. I'm going with 777 and staying with the 295's Powerbelts. If I'm not happy after this season, then I'll switch.

I loved Pyrodex but didn't look back once I tried 777.
