Default Duck wing results..........

Sent in 27 duck wings last fall and just got the results today. Mainly teal, gadwalls, wigeons, pintail, and a couple mallards. 19/27 were immatures(I kept tellin' Brandon to stop shooting the younger ones) Also, 20/27 were males with the only females being shot were blue wingers. I ran out of envelopes to send in and never got any of the goose wing/tails sent in or any of the late season mallards.

I was asked to send mine in a few years back too. It was pretty cool finding out whether they were mature or immature birds. I was surprised to know most of what I shot those two years were mature birds. It was a little extra work but added a little more to the season knowing I was doing my part to help out the Feds with their surveys.

Have been doing the same thing for the past 3 seasons now as well.... Have not received the info. back yet for this past fall but should be coming soon. Next time send in the little slip of paper that comes with the envelopes before you run out of them alex and they will ask you how many more envelopes approx. you will need to finish out the season.

I lost that little slip of paper. Had them send me 30 to start and ran out by mid-Oct.

I remember the last season I did the survey a few years ago they just sent me 200 envelopes at the start of the year. The mailman was not happy. They allow you to do the surveys three years in a row - then I think its five years before they ask you to do it again.

I did this same thing with doves last year. They wanted the results from 2 hunts. I sent in 2 limits. I don't remember the details but in our region the average age for doves was a little over a year old. In other parts of the country they have way older birds with some places averaging 2-3 year old birds. Pretty crazy that we are that much different!!
