its a zoned draw. its very unlikely....like 90-95% unlikely you'll get drawn for the first few years. theyve made it that now you can just buy a point each year to add them up, cuz its next to impossible to get drawn without at least two points. this year theyve also added on a mandatory doe tag for all out of state permits..so the grand total is around $450 for a buck
id say, start applying this year, or buy a point to start building up your chances for the 2009 or 2010 season...just remember, if you apply your giving away that money until the draw is done i think in june or july...and then you'll be reimburced for it if you arent drawn...kinda sucks, im sure most dont want to give away over $400 for a few months. also make sure that if you dont want to hunt pheasants in iowa that you make note of that when your applying. cuz if you dont, you get charged for the $100 hunting license even if you dont get drawn id be purchasing points, but my intention is once i graduate college this fall im gonna move to iowa so i can get that coveted tag. plus, $170 for a NE out of state over-the-counter tag is just slightly more appealing to me |
