I was just wondering if any cat men out there use P-line X-strength. I just recantly started useing it and it seems real tuff only used in the river once so far with only a few small fish. I have my rods spooled with 20lb test. I did get snagged up at Novato's secret spot and had toruble breaking it off it was some tuff line. So i geuss i answerd my own question then. But i was wondering if anyone has any down sides to the line i need to know about?
Thanks Jeremey |

I've heard other guys talk about P-line and they like it.
Is it expensive, Jeremey? Where did you buy it? |

I, too, have been using the 50lb Spiderwire. I've only heard of the P-Line...what is it and who makes it. What are the supposed advantages/disadvantages.

P-line is the brand name the type i got was extra strength. The price was not to horrible i went to bass pro and got it for 14.99 for 20lb test 600 yard spool. They do have alot of diffrent colors the only color they had in the big spools at bass pro was gold though. So far i find no disadvatages i have not caught 2 big fish though since i got it just some small ones and got snagged a few times had to wrap my shirt in the line to break it. Memory was kinda iffy at first but once i got the line wet it wasnt to bad for being 20lb test. For a mono i would have to say so far in the little use i have got out of it it rates top on my list. I know Storm told me to get Stren bigcat but i couldnt find it and thats how i ended up getting this line. I hear stren big cat has horrible memory though i need to try it out and see for myself.

. You got a ton of line for dirt cheap. That's spiderwire I use is more like $10.00 for 150 years (maybe more...it's been a while). Bo's PowerPro is like twice the price of Spiderwire. You got a heck of a deal! Deas |

I’ll stick with the Spiderwire in 50lb test. I had Trilene XL on the reels at the beginning of the season, and I probably won’t go back to that stuff because it is high memory and some of the kinkiest stuff I have ever used.
I’ve got 3 of them re-spooled with the Spiderwire now, and that’s how I intend to keep it – I pulled Ethan’s boat with both anchors down the other night trying to get a snag loose the stuff didn’t break, and I know there was more than 50lbs of tension on it. JLK

Ive used stren bigcat, wasnt bad. I didnt notice much line memory though it did have some. The worst that I have used was berkley, that crap was bad. Basically any mono that is malable will have less memory and ones that are stiff will have worse memory, once they get a bit of memory it stays.

I don't think the Stren Big Cat line or the Berkley Big Game line has outrageous memory for mono. In heavier weights, they can be a little springy. When you first start fishing for the day, yeah, they are pretty coiled up, but as the day goes on, they lay out and behave better. Lot's of times I'll cast out with just a weight when I start out to stretch the line out and get it a little wet. Once mono absorbs some water, it usually behaves a lot better on the spool. When it's brand new, those lines are jumpy, especially on a spinning rig. But you learn to deal with it. They are tough, they knot well and they are easy to see. All fishing line is a balancing act of characteristics. I like braid for some of my other fishing, but it has it's own set of problems too, but it works great for what I use it for

I just got power pro 40lb test a few weeks back due to some recommendations from the other site. I really like this line, it's the first experience that I've had with a braid, but this stuff is super thin and easy to tie knots with. I was using the Stren (or maybe berkley) Big Game line in 25lb, and I had a heck of a time tying knots with that it was so thick, and had pretty bad memory also....

The size hooks i use are big enough were the 20lb test is easy to tie on.
If i had to choose a braided line it would be power pro thats what i got on my snggin pol works great for hullin in the spoonies. Jeremey |
