I guess it just all depends on the species and that exact day and conditions. I use mostly all northland and custom jigs and spins out of Iowa. I will probably try little atom and maynards this season. Here's some of my stuff.

I'm gonna go with 8" smelt on a 3/0 treble hanging under my Polar tip-up. Nothing like scanning the horizon for flags waving in the wind.

You should consider this http://www.nefga.org/forum/nebraska-...gathering.html

I would bet you could show up with no gear and find plenty of guys that would let you borrow thiers to try out. You should seriously consider this if you want to get into it.

Awfully nice of you to show off your wares, DC and others who have posted photos.

My box is a mish-mash, but one of my favorites has also become that Shuck's lure - I have heard it called a 'pilkie' but that is probably another brand name.

Love those little tungsten jigs you can get from Your Bobbers Down, too.

Two other things that have worked well for me in some circumstances - very small chironomid style flies (like size 18 or smaller) and I've done well with the FoodSource Earthworm in red, using just 1/3" - 1/2" of it on a jig head near the bottom. Looks just like the bloodworms that live down there on mud flats all winter.

I really need to compile a list of all these lures when this thread is done; It would be interesting to see... I might have to construct a small "NEFGA Member Approved Ice Fishing Tackle Kit" once I get this all figured out... ;>)

It’s been several years and I think 2 apartments since I last ice fished and unfortunately I am unable to find my ice gear. I have started to rebuild my stash and this is it so far, minus a handful of small spoons. I have been having good luck this fall with Northland Mud Bugs and Bro Bugs tipped with Gulp! Alive waxies & 1” minnows. Thanks to all for links and baits to try!

Those little black jigs with the big eyes were killers up at the refuge.

Ok, here's my favorites so far. I might add that lack of ability is usually made up with throwing everything you got at them. It only takes one to kill'em. Figuring it out is the hard part.

Complete with Holdem Flies.

Fish candy!

Tungsten stuff

Definetly my favorite as well.

Second would be a Pink and White Genz worm with a # 10 hook. Thats the one that stays tied to my favorite rod almost all the time. It has caught everything that swims.

I really like Fiskas for using plastics or waxies & spikes love the tungeston jigs, although I use a baitless method about 90% of the time using hair jigs that are 1/80th & 1/100th oz, for Crappies & Gills, they also work very well on trout, bass walleye & have even caught a huge muskie on them also.

Here's my go to jig, not my favorite color only pic I could find at the moment

Here's a couple of nice slabs in Minnesota during an snowstorm last Dec, caught on hair jigs

My favorite jig maker
Jiggin Joe's Hand Tied Jigs

All 105 (plus dozens thrown back) caught on hair jigs
This lake has a crappie overpopulation problem & the state wants people to keep alot of crappies otherwise the lake crappie population is going to be really stunted soon, this is a typical day on this paticular lake.
There is no limit on crappies on this lake for a reason
