Default I went fishing for big bluegill.

Bittersweet catch, because I thought of OBG often while I was there.

Here's a nice Richmond Mill, North Carolina bluegill at 2 lb, 6 oz.

His stats were 12.75 inches, and a girth of 14 inches.

That previous fish is a coppernose strain bluegill, and this picture shows a 2-2 "native" or standard bluegill caught the night before along with a 1-12 coppernose.

You know it, brother.

Honestly, this was OBG's kinda lake. 130 acres. Lots of great float tubing spots. The lake record is held by a fly fisherman at 2-8. I'd like to go back sometime and just bring the fairy wand.

I'll be doing an article on the adventure for In-Fisherman magazine that will run this coming spring. I'm co-writing with one of their contributors Jim Gronaw.
