Default few things Ive tied up

Ive been occasionally tying up some stuff myself lately... Ive got a few patterns that I havn't taken pictures of that I'll try and get some pics of here soon.

Rather than post each picture on this thread I'll just attach the link to my album.

http://www.nefga.org/forum/album.php?albumid=643

I was just looking at how Ive progressed since I first started tying flies, The first several I tied look hideous! I think Ive progressed quite a bit from my first tie.

Some good looking ties there Alex. Glad to see you are not afraid to experiment too. There are thousands of tried and true patterns out there, but even those had to start somewhere.

This is not the right place for me to show pictures of the things I have tied up. Of course they were a couple of dogs. I could only describe what I think I would look like trying to flyfish, well the monkey and the football comes to mind. Kinda like my ability to golf...never done it, probably would really suck. I think those look great and really want to learn flyfishing someday.

Holy smokes, I wish I was that patient. Nice. Generally speaking how many fish is a fly good for?

I'll usually lose it to a snag, tree, rocks, limbs, brush, tall grass..... before the fish have a chance to chew it up beyond use. usually......

But I've had days where a panfish polecat started out as a perfect tie, and 50 fish later was missing 3 legs, most of the tail, and the yellow underbody was long gone.

Sometimes a good fly doesn't really work good until a few fish have chewed it up for some reason. Those are really nice, LL!

Nice clean ties Lunger, good to see that you're experimenting a little too.

Some of my most productive patterns are ones that I put together with what was in my box at the time, or just using up old materials that I didn't have any other use for.

Keep em coming.

thanks for the kind words, Most of the stuff I tie is stuff I kinda made up.. I also like to take actual patterns and change em up a bit, I like experimenting with los of stuff, if it turns out good then great, if it doesn't I strip the materials and make something else.

For someone like myself that doesn't tie, I would hafta say those look pretty killer. I wish I had the patience/creativity to do something like that. That scud looks sweet IMO.

Very nice!

I have had quite a bit of success with a Shad Dart in various sizes. They have been responsible for nice Bass, Gills, Crappie, and Walleye in the water bodies around Omaha.
