Here's some info on what's been goin on out there.

Tri-County Canal at IDOfishing.com

Believe you're probably going to be looking at temps very similar to Johnson. I'd say around 67 will be close.

fishhunter thanks for that report! Hows the water level on Gallaghers right now? is it drawn down for winter or is there still some draw down left? Any problems launching a boat right now?

Thanks
Sorny

Last week it was drawn down, but I've seen it lower. I would expect it to drop a little bit more. Launching a small boat at Gallagher is still possible, but it's tough. When the water drops, that ramp gets real narrow and skinny. That launch could really use a good dredging.

Since it's a jon, you have a good chance. Bring your waders, you might have to walk it out to the channel. Last time I was there, the dock wasn't even in the water. Normal for this time of year.

may have to give it a try, thanks for the info. I have only been there in the spring when it's full. I really like that lake.

Here are some pictures from yesterday. I didn't go fishing because of the wind but I brought my boys with since they had the day off from school.

Welcome to the board.

The tri-county canal system is the delivery system for water from McConaughy to the downstream irrigators. Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District used to be known as "tri-county." The name has stuck for the canals, even though the district changed names years ago.

Water that leaves Mac goes down either the North Platte River or the NPPD Supply Canal (Not CNPPID). After the canal water rejoins the Platte near North Platte, CNPPID diverts it to the tri-county canal and the various impoundments along the way to irrigating their customers in central Nebraska.

You can view maps of the system here:

There is a lot more water in there right now. I put my boat in on Tuesday and had no problems. No ducks around right now.

Was out yesterday and was surprised to see the water all the way up to 49 degrees. The crappies made us work, but my Dad and I managed to get around 100 crappies into the boat in about 4 hrs, and Dad got a real nice 18 1/2" LMB. I'm sure that water temp will really drop after this weekend.
