Default Doesnt seem right

I keep looking at the pics of fish from people and see blacked out backgrounds and people that are scared to tell where they are catching fish at. Sad that resources are so limited that we have to be afraid people will fish out our favorite spot if we show a picture of a lake or tell where they are biting at. I understand it but I just don't like it.

If it makes you feel better, I'll share my favorite fishing spot with you....

Lexington City Park ...Nebraska's most unheralded fishing hot spot !!

There you go !! Cat's outta da bag now.

You'd better hurry, I just saw a fish stocking truck unload a bunch of 30 inch walleyes into the pond. You should have seen the crowd, they were cheering like they were at a World Cup Soccer match. I'm pretty sure most of them don't fish anyways. So hurry, bring your friends and a cast net.

How about I black out the fore ground and leave the background. Then you'll really wonder what I caught!

Ask yourself this:

If you found a PUBLIC spot, that has little to no pressure at all, and you go and catch nice fish everytime you go, are you going to put up some scenery pictures and gps coordinates just so it can get pressured ALL the time? I could put up a non-blurred picture of a certain public spot that never gets fished and would see this the next time i go there

and there would even be the die hard internet scouters still there when the sun is setting

you don't want everyone's hand in the cookie jar at once now do ya?

Resources are not limited at all;there are tons of places to catch fish. The problem is that so many people abuse what we have, can't use common sense when fishing near others, don't wanna take the time to figure anything out on their own and want the where,when,how-tos to everything for instant self gratification. Fishing is not rocket science and nearly every lake around here(eastern part of the state) is basically built the same way and most fishing techniques that work on one lake will produce fish at most others but nobody wants to go thru the trial and error to figure that out. Now,if someone blurs out a background...it may be a honey hole but it may just be that the person doesn't want 50 others standing there when they show up the next time.

Not asking for gps if I look at a spot and know where it is then I've been there and its not a secret to me. By the way I was going to take the car to lexington but now I'll take the truck for all those huge walleyes.

Has there ever been any discussion to make the forum a "view only for members?" This may deter some of the internet scouters or make the forum numbers sky rocket. I know there are lurkers and lots of them, usually over 50% of the people viewing are guests. Now before I get reamed and people post links to this discussion I will admit I did a search before putting my .02.

I don't think it would matter. Just because someone is a "member" isn't gonna stop them or 20 of their good friends from hitting your honey hole after seeing what you caught and where you caught it on here. Imo the difference between "member" and "lurker" is probaly minimal.

in my experience the guy's who don't know anything will tell you exactly how to catch fish, the guys know their fish and how to catch them, won't tell you a thing besides, "the easiest way I know how to catch a fish is to have a pole in the water."

I see no problem with helping others that choose to. Just don't whine about all the problems when ya can't fish the spot anymore. After being burned on a couple things from forum members,I've learned who to call when the bite is hot or when the field is loaded with geese. If I trust someone enough,I'll give them exact details on how, where, when I'm fishing via PMs.Otherwise,I'll help but not in great detail. Call me an ass, jerk,or anything else but my first priority is to put my kid into fish/ fowl and not 5000 strangers that have no respect for others or the property/water that they are using.

some fishing sites don't even allow you to post the location.

Its all right if you share your methods, bait and times, but if you say where you caught the fish an administrator, or moderator will edit your post to remove the location, and send you a gentle reminder not to describe specific spots.

They Call it "Spot Burning"

Its the rudest thing you could do the other guys that have invested the time and money to also find that bite.
