friggidy,

I know that old guy you are talking about! It has probably been about five or six years since I have been to Crystal Cove. He has pictures of a monster Northern Pike he had pulled out of Crystal Cove, and I did not even know they were in there.

How is crystal cove doing this year? The last time I was there, it was over-run by tiny bluegill EVERYWHERE. They would steal any bait you had before you could catch anything else.

I hear they stalked Crystal Cove with Rainbow Trout.

There are carp in crystal cove?? Really?

Have a good one, later!

Closest I've ever gotten to catching one is when they were feeding on a bunch of cotton/moss close to shore. I put on a small marshmellow and threw it out there and tried to work the marshmellow into their path. (on top of the water)

Unfortunately didn't have the time to remain still and I spooked them.

Use artificial rainbow trout colored baits for the monster northerns and bass. I fish there every time i go home. There are also some mammoth snappers and there are still a few walleye left.

They did a fish survey last year and my dad was out there at the time of the survey. They listed some of the fish that were in there and the size. Some of them were no joke, still walleye and even crappie.

Friggidy,

If you do not have a boat, where do you recommend fishing from at Crystal Cove? I know they have the fishing dock, and that is the place I met that older gentleman who goes there VERY often, with the pictures of Northern Pike. I see they also built a nice long rock walkway on the other side of the lake (north side I think).

Are they still stalking Crystal Cove regularly? I thought it was odd they chose Rainbow Trout over Northern or Largemouth in a lake like that.

What do you normally catch every time you go home? Like I said, I haven't been there for over five years or so, but the last time I went we just caught a ton of bluegill and a couple trout. We did see a MONSTER Northern cruise by about four feet off the dock, and it blew my mind. I could see how Northern would just dominate that lake, they have thousands of bluegill to snack on whenever they get hungry.

That gentleman we were talking about through a bunch of cat food in the water... Suddenly, the trout came there, where all the bluegill were hanging out. That is when the Northern cruised by.

Maybe I will have to give crystal cove a try next time afterall.

Thanks, take care!!
