NGPC news release, 7/8/09:
LINCOLN, Neb. – Applications for paddlefish snagging permits are being accepted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission through July 31. Recipients of the 1,520 available resident and 80 nonresident permits will be drawn in mid-August. Individuals age 16 or older need a 2009 Nebraska fishing permit in addition to a paddlefish snagging permit to snag paddlefish. Paddlefish permits are $21 for both residents and nonresidents. Applicants must be at least 12 years old by Oct. 1. Applicants whose names are not drawn will have their paddlefish permit fees returned. A person may have no more than two snagging permits for one season. Each permit allows the harvest of one paddlefish. Paddlefish snagging is permitted only in a prescribed section of the Missouri River. The season is Oct. 1-31. To apply for a paddlefish snagging permit, visit OutdoorNebraska.org or Commission offices in Lincoln, Omaha, Norfolk, Kearney, North Platte, Alliance, and Bassett, or mail a completed application form to: Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, 2200 N. 33rd St., Lincoln, NE, 68503-0370. Application forms may be found in the 2009 Nebraska Fishing Guide. Mailed applications must be received in the Lincoln headquarters by 5 p.m. on July 31. Online applications will end at midnight. For more information, see the 2009 Nebraska Fishing Guide.
