Default Lund boat cover "bows"?

I recently bought a 16' lund. I'm wondering if the wood bows that you can buy to hold the tarp up are worth the money? Can you go down the road with them on? Does anyone have any they may like to sell? Thanks, Jay

Before I had my current boat, I always put old saw horses in the boat to hold up the tarp. The main reason for it was so that the water would drain off of the side and not collect on top of the tarp (middle of the boat) and put pressure on the tarp and straps. I didn't use them when I traveled because even if it rained, the tarp was moving enough in the wind that it didn't collect on the middle of the boat on top of the tarp.

I would go to cabelas and buy the fiberglass ones and then cut them to size, much stronger. You can go down the road with them, just make sure your tarp is tied down good.

What I use is plywood or cheap composite siding. Take a piece of plywood and rip length wise about 6" by 8ft. then just slip under the tarp and place under the gunnels on each side. I generally use two the forward one usually is about a foot shorter. I do not travel with them. They slide in next to the garage wall when not in use.
