Default Need

Anyone know of an easy access area (Southeast Nebraska) to catch carp from a bank. My son (7) has watched his sister (9) pull in a 5 lb channel cat, 4 lb large mouth, and 7 lb flathead. He has yet to catch anything bigger larger than a 1 lb bluegill. I need a carp quick.

Haha, the only thing worse would be if she was 7 and he was 9! I feel his frustration...and wish I could help!

You might try Pawnee, and if you can wait a bit longer (June 27th), go to the Carp-o-rama.

NEFGA at the NGPC Carp-O-Rama! June 27th at Pawnee

Go to Pawnee, find a a cozy place on the shore, bring an extra can or bag of corn and chum handfuls of corn into the area you plan on casting and just cast out on the bottom with some corn and as little weight as it takes to get out there and hang on for a fun-filled afternoon.

LOL, Zorinsiky has a good population of carp. The like to hang out in the small cove around 168th street. Two rivers as well.

You can also catch them pretty easily right off the pier at zorinsky in the cove to the south east of it.

Saw a bunch flopping around on the north side by the eastern picnic areas as well yesterday.

If you're close to Lincoln try heading out to Oak Lake at 1st and Cornhusker with a can of corn. The south side is the ultimate in easy access. Less than 10 feet to the water from your car. Lots of traffic though since you parallel park on the side of the street. They also have some parking lots that can help keep the young ones away from moving traffic and still be a very short walk from the water.

Thanks for the suggestions, I planning on Pawnne this coming weekend. My daughter up'd the score again this weekend. I had them both fishing for blugills at Holmes. She caught a nice 16 in LMB under the south bridge. He tail snagged a 2.5 inch rock bass.. Same poles, same reels, same bait, same setup.

I am pretty sure from experience and some of the pictures posted on here that the fish would MUCH rather be caught by a girl than a guy. I think they profile who is allowed to catch them that way.
