We had a muskrat try to swim up one of our fishing holes and come inside our hut.
I guess it was too cold outside. It was pretty nice inside the hut. I have heard of it happening, but this was a first for me.

What did you do. Did you put your foot over the hole to stop him?

Yes, just before he surfaced. There was a little warning first because some bubbles came up. We thought he might try a different hole, but we never saw it again. That would have been a sight to see if he would have made it into the hut.:zscared:

I've heard of that too, you'll have to keep a camera handy in case he comes in for a coke next time!!
I'm always shocked to look down there and see fish, seeing a muskrat would cause me to vacate quickly! Muskrats are mean. I used to trap them. If they grew to be the size of beagles, you would not want to walk along any water in Nebraska without a shotty loaded with 00 buck in hand. Anyone ever got anything like that on one of those underwater cameras for ice fishing? I think I saw on Youtube an otter eat a trout on an ice fishing underwater camera.

I have had bluegills come up through the ice hole to eat wax worms floating on the surface, but never a muskrat.
Now, if someone asks nicely, I might spill the beans on what kind of conditions bluegill are likely to be eating just under the surface near the ice. :zrazzing:
