Default Tony Dean passed away...

Didn't know if anyone else had posted this yet or not. For those of us that spent years in the Dakotas area, he was a legend. Great guy, really down-to-earth when it came to hunting and fishing. This is from the KMOT news room in Minot, ND:

Hunters, Anglers Mourn Tony Dean 10/20/2008Hunters and anglers are remembering one of the region`s best known outdoorsmen.

Tony Dean spent a career doing television and radio shows on hunting and fishing in the Dakotas. He died yesterday at his home in Pierre, South Dakota.

Dean had fallen ill after complications from an appendectomy.

Randy Kreil is the wildlife director for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. He remembers Dean as a great friend of the outdoors, and someone who valued wildlife.

Tony Dean was 67 years old.

A very sad day. Tony Dean was one of my favorites. Very down-to- earth fellow.

God Bless.

I didn't agree with a lot of his political stuff, but totally respect the guy and he will be missed. Everyone I knew up north that met him said he was a first class individual.

I would never miss his show. I always found it fascinating that there was a show based so close to Nebraska.

I remember as a kid watching him as well. My uncle actually hunted with him a few times years ago.

Tony was a true conservationist, fisherman and hunter. As a thinker, he was concerned about the future of our outdoor sports and the healthy earth that is necessary for them.

As an advocate for what it takes to keep us fishing and hunting---he will be sorely missed.

I grew up listening to Tony Dean on the radio and watching his show on TV, there will never be another voice like that he was very distenctive. Great person, great speaker, and great sportsman, you will be missed Tony.

Unhappy Tony Dean

Wow... I can't believe I forgot about Tony Dean. I watched him back when he was one of a very few you could watch on TV.

God Bless his family.
