Default lake

The dam portion is actually just starting. The portion that looks like a dam just off hwy 109 is actually a break jetty just like the one on Zorinsky. All the rocks and dirt work should be done this fall - they were working all weekend and using every bit of light to bring in truck load after truck load of lime stone. They currently have most of the creek shut down and looks like they are filling the back portion (wetlands) so that they can have as little water flowing in the creeK as possible. I would guess for construction purposes. I had heard that the game and parks had approved like $75,000 for selective deepining of the second mile of the lake - just rumor around wahoo - but lately rumors have been right.

The other rumor I have been hearing is that they really want to get the main dam portion well underway before the spring rains have the potential to cause flooding problems.

You guys better slow down, no dam, no water, and already got it fished out.

Now, that being said, for a typical club tournament, guys like to go somewhere where they can "whack" em and catch a lot of fish. Even if they don't finish in the top three, if they fill a card and get a nice limit of 5, they are typically happy. Well, it just seems like lakes in Iowa, the ones I've been to, are able to give up those type of results, consistently. We've fished Maskenthine, Wildwood, Summit, and Burchard for club tourneys, and have done very well at some of them. My hope, is that Wanahoo becomes a great fishery (as probably most on this board hopes so too) It'd be great to see a fine 637 acre lake near the metro. 637 acres is comparable to a lot of lakes in Iowa...so i'm really excited to see the layout and design of the lake!
Justin I am in no way baggin on Nebraska lakes. In fact, my biggest Sack of the year came from a Nebraska lake (which will remain nameless ). And the biggest bass I have ever seen has come out of another public Nebraska lake. But to say that that the Iowa lakes are very consistent is to say the least. If we can get a lake that is similar to those Iowa lakes, and you can catch 15-20 fish a day, the population of YOUTH that will want to fish will grow very fast. And then with organizations like Recycled Fish, we can inform the youth about selective harvest an catch and release techniques. This will help our fisheries go from "good" to "great".

Tone, I agree. Actually, our club had it's best tourney on a NE lake this year. We hit it just right. It too shall remain nameless...publicly that is. PM if you want to know it.

Anyways...I agree with ya 100%....hopefully this lake is like a 12 mile or something like that. Similar size and good fishing!
