this is a very very difficult question to answer.
Cats become more active at night, and come up closer to the shores to feed. but if you look at some of the cat pictures posted A LOT of big cats are caught during the day as well, you just need to read up and research. Also, you say your new to this!?!? try this link: NEFGA Beginner's Corner.

I believe that most fish are "opportunistic", and feeding is as much "reactionary" as it is "stalking".
Different fish (one must be more specific here!) have different "feeding patterns", but I believe an appropriate bait in front of their nose will be enough to cause a temporary "adjustment" to their schedule! Unless, of course, they just "filled up" before you got there!! Besides the variation between the different fishes, weather and seasons also require different "plans of attack" when attempting to determine "prime times". People are a lot like fish... (Sorry, Mr. B, I'm gonna STEAL your wisdom here) FISH HAVE TO EAT TO SURVIVE! If the opportunity to absorb more energy than it takes to retrieve, a fish may eat at any time of the day/night. Some may skip breakfast, lunch, and supper, but may "snack" all day! A bit "fish specific", I tend to target LMB early and late in the summer but in the fall, mid morning to afternoon seem to be a better pattern. But, I don't "take a nap" during my perceived down times. I have yet to catch a fish with the line out of the water, regardless of the time/season! So, in MY opinion, if you have the "time", it's time to be fishin'! Harold F. ![]() ![]()

I put a lot of faith in the solunar tables.
You can find one at the link below after becoming a free member of their site: Absolutely A1 info at Walleye Central - Visit the Walleye Pros Fish also seem to bite the best in low light conditions (morning, evening, cloudy, and windy days) Jim |

Here's a nice chart from the NGPC website. The "Time of Day" row is a good indicator of the feeding time for each species.
