Default I should have stayed home last night!

get to TR around 6 with hopes of big kitties dancing in my head. Get the float tube all set up, waders on, rods assembled and get in the water. Kevin and Justin are launching Kevin's small boat about the same time. I set one of my cat rods next to me on the tube to adjust the stripping apron and grab my ultra lite to catch a few gills.

"what the......!" i shout the cat rod I had set next to me is not in sight. Spend the next 40 minutes or so wading around looking for my rod. Only found two whole clams, many sticks peice of concrete, and some rebar. It gets dark, so i launch the tube hoping to salvage the night with some big cats. Fishing with the ultra lite while dragging some dogfood around, I head to shallow water to take care of some buisness.

"kevin, you are not going to believe this..... my freaking ultra lite just fell in!" spent the next few minutes wading around for that. But every single step yeilds a stick.

Spend the next few minutes just kinda floating around hoping again, that a cat will bite.

Finally I just head in, put the tube against a tree and take off the waders, place an extremly small treble hook and egg sinking on my one remaining rod. The best catch of the night? My other cat rod. in 26 years of fishing I've never lost a rod. Tonight, I did lose one and almost lost two!

Dang glad I was able to recover my other cat rod. Medium heavy Ugly Stik with Okuma baitfeeding reel.

At least one fish was caught last night, but I'll let Kevin start a new thread on that one.

That's pretty smart. I know I never would have thought of doing that.

Alex,

I still miss my Fenwick that got dragged into the farm pond earlier this year when I was asleep at the wheel.....It sounds like some of my "good" luck must have washed off onto you.

Sorry for your loss.

P.S. -- Slimers are biting

Holdem, I have fished for "big cats" one week in my life. It's an EXPENSIVE sport!

I would GLADLY give up ANY of my ultralites for the outfit I fed to the fish on the FIRST DAY of "Catfish Week"!

Congrats on the successful "retrieve"!
