We had the same problem. Now the beaver is gone but it's mess did not leave. We made a grappling hook and drug the piles of branches out of the lake. It's a very messy job but it's not very difficult.

Can i rent that thing for a few days. I would like to retreive a few cranks for a RR tracks area north of Lincoln

Check with Fish On he has a very good tool for getting cranks loose from snags by the tracks.

Maybe I should make some up and sell them? I've heard there's a location with a FRESH free cat rod up for grabs. Of course I'd return it if I were to find it since I know who's it is.

cat rod was recovered, ultra lite on the other hand......
