Default Holmes Lake Trout

Does anyone know if the trout were dumped in today? I sure hope so, atleast by sometime tomorrow! I have Tuesdays off from class and was hoping that they would be in by tomorrow so that I can get out and get a few before it becomes impossible.I don't know what it is, but after a couple of days of the trout being stocked, I can't even get one of those slimers to bite!

Anyone stake out Holmes today?

It should be stocked this week! What kind of bait is good for trout at Holmes guy? All i hear is to use salmon eggs. Anyone had any luck with other kind of bait?

Just got back from a walk out to Holmes. They have the net up below the bridge with the floaties on top of the net holding it up. There is a sign by the dock that says that THIS AREA IS DESTIGNATED AS A YOUTH AREA. Also says that adults can be present but if you are over 15 you can't fish there. Says that it is in effect from October 10-April 15. I am guessing it is just that little cove around the boat ramp but am not sure. I did hear some splashes around but not sure if they were trout, couple loud splashes in the south basin had to be large bass or cats, scared the crap out of us. Beings that the youth area takes in effect Friday, I am guessing that is when they are going to be dumping them in, but who knows, maybe they already have as I did here those familiar splashes on top of the water and the net is ready with the floaties. Could be other fish though. Just thought I would let everyone know. Thank you's are welcome for my trouble!

You can catch them on crawlers and power bait but When they stock the trout I use a small roostertail or panther martin. the past years I have been using a #1 roostertail and got plenty of trout but I think a #0 or #00 would work best. Good luck.

Small mepps spinners or rooster tail spinners work. I also recommend using corn.

Troy, did you check out the "winter trout" section of the Beginner's Corner? Good advice there.

Thanks OBG! I'll check on that right now! I have taken a lot of limits from holmes in the past, but it just seems like after the first few days of them going in, they stop for me and I see other people just pounding them!! They are for sure the biggest challenge I have in my fishing adventures! I'll go read up on um in the beginners, thanks again!

I don't think they have been stocked yet. I went out there earlier to see if there were many people there and there was only one person out there, which tells me that they have not gone in yet. Usually when they go in, word of mouth spreads and it turns into a real zoo!
