Default crappie baitcaster?

I was wondering if they make crappie sized baitcasters? I seen some at basspro but they are not really for casting more for like jigging... does anyone know were I can get one that I can cast lures with?

Something like a Daiwa Pixy or a Shimano Conquest 50s will cast pretty light lures. Kind of pricey reels though. You can find them used for around 225.00 for a Liberty Pixy and 325.00 for the Japan Conquest. (380.00 new) I don't think the Pixy reel is made anymore.

I haven't used a Shimano MG50 but I have read a few articles about them and reviews gave them a thumbs up for light lures.

If you get too light you wil be forced to use the spinning reel, but thats OK, thats what they are there for.

Default Liberto Pixy

I will second FillupD 's comments regarding the Liberto Pixy: Enthusiast Fishing Reel Review - Japanese tackle, Daiwa Pixy Baitcasting Reel Review

There are VERY FEW baitcasters capable of effectively casting 1/4oz and even lighter. The Diawa Pixy knows no equal.

I have owned and cast a couple Pixies, both stock and a supertuned custom "Pixilla". The only reel on the US domestic market that comes close is the Steez.

Good equipment is key to casting light lures on baitcasting gear as well as the casters skill. I can easily cast 1/4 oz lures with almost all of my equipment. The best ones are calais 100a, chronarch mg50, and conquest 50. The conquest 50 is the best and cast 1/8 and 1/12 oz lures with it. The pixy is good as well but I haven't had as good as results with it as compared to the conquest.
