Default Another kayaking trip on my favorite river

Sorry no flyrod again Troutbum. I tried that last week and decided I'm not skilled enough yet to work around the all these trees.

I managed seven different species today, but I only have pictures of 5.
Here's an interesting fish that is a first for me. I caught several of these today and after looking them up, I found out they are called shadow bass and are related to the rock bass.

Here's a small warmouth I caught as well like a bigger one I posted a couple weeks ago.

Heres a nice female river bluegill

Then here's picture-worthy bass for the day
1st up, spotted bass

Another healthy Spot

Another pretty spot

Then this nice river largemouth

And a view of a deeper and slower moving section of the river, where a good amount of the fish from the day came from

It was an absolutely beautiful day with a high of 82 and sunny. Water was cool and the evening was very mild and low humidity. This is the start of the nicest weather we get down here in the south. It was one of those days you didn't want to end.

I've always wished we had a river, excluding the Mighty Mo, that had a number of different species in it much like the one you've shown. One you could float down and you never know what you may pull in. Looks like you had a great day.

That looks like a great time in such a peaceful and secluded spot. The first two species you posted almost look like something you might catch in the Amazon.

Thanks for sharing these river voyages.

I forgive you for not using a fly rod

Once again, very cool pictures.

I've always wondered what a sauger/crappie hybrid would look like. Do you think we could get the ngpc to stock these in '09?
