In your opinion, what is the best NEBRASKA public lake for catching?
LMBass? SMBass? Whitebass? Walleye? Catfish? Bluegill? Crappie? Other?

Well I don't get out like I used to, but I would say:
LMB: Chechland is pretty good. Walleye: don't fish for them a lot, spill way at Gavins Point Dam is very popular. Catfish/BlueGill: Any of the sandpit lakes seem to hold decent fish. Fremont Lakes, Louisville, Fort Kearney

LMBass? Refuge Lakes, or Clear Lake.
SMBass? Merritt Whitebass? Mac/Harlan Walleye? Mac/Merritt Catfish? Merritt/Loup River Bluegill? Tough, bud I'd have to go with Pelican/Dewey Crappie? Again, likely one of the Sandhills lakes. Cottonwood/Steverson has some giants if you can pin them down. The only species that I'd add to that are Muskies, and yellow Perch. We have a number of perch fisheries here in the state that are often overlooked. I don't think people even target them. They are often a by-catch. Frankly, I'd rather eat perch than walleye, slightly sweeter meat and you don't have to take a limit to feed a family. Muskies Merritt without a doubt, but I think over the next few years you may see a pig show up here and there in the Eastern portion of the state. Perch Again Cottonwood Steverson. All you have to do is pin them down, and follow the school, and you can get them dialed in relatively easy. Disclaimer: I should add that these would be what I'd consider the best shot at a BIG fish, and enough cross species action to keep a guy busy a while. It depends on if you want to catch a lot of fish or if you want to catch big fish or you just want to catch a fish.
Largemouth Bass, catfish, bluegill and crappie are easy, because they are in just about every lake in the state.
