Default My L-day weekend with the Terrible 3 (pic heavy)

My Labor Day weekend began with a quick trip to Milford. Craig Condello, Angler1724 and I had a fun time! No big fish were caught. Just mainly white bass and smallmouths but a good time none the less.
After a nights rest my journey began at Cottonmill Lake were I met the “Terrible 3”
Matt had already caught his first northern pike!

Soon afterwards Josh caught this nice channel catfish and while I was taken the picture Matt had one on! But it got off at the bank! Darn! It was going to be released anyway..

Emily was getting bored and was tired of catching bait(little bluegills) for the boys. So Uncle Andrew and her took a little walk to try catching some of the elusive crappie. We didn’t catch any crappie, but I did teach her to use a spinning reel and she had fun casting out and little bass.

We then went to Cabelas to get the kids some new fishing gear and then went to Ft. Kearney. Disappointing to say the least. Although good fisheries just not much for access for kids, we need more fishing piers at these pits if we want to increase recruitment. We finished Saturday at Windmill#2 just catching little bluegill off the pier.
The next day Emily woke up long before us boys and was ready to go catch some crappie!

Here’s Emily and Josh with Emily’s first crappie!

Not to be outdone Matt caught his first yellow perch!

Emily with the days catch!

After cleaning the fish and getting lunch it was a quick trip to Yanney Park. This is a really neat area and I suggest if you want to take some kids fishing this is a good spot. Lots of shoreline access, great water clarity, concessions and water park, if the summer heat needs to be drenched.

Matt with a pretty Yanney bass.

The wind was hollowing and we decided to try Kea. Lots of action, bluegills and some nice bass.

Josh with a 14” bass caught on a bluegill. He tried for a bigger one that would come up but never took the bait.

After a good day fishing, it was back home for some fish and chips.
Emily learns the value of “selective harvest”

On Monday we went back to Windmill and caught some more crappie!
Josh with a nice crappie.

The terrible 3 with the mornings catch, what an awesome time!

After lunch we went back to Kea and only the little bluegill were biting. Emily was getting hot so we called it a day. Leaving the kids to their Dad hyped up on sugar and heads full of good times Uncle Andrew begins the 50 mile trip to Elwood and slowly transforms into AnglerX
Nice walleye!

And a MA wiper caught and released for Josh!

Lucky kids! Awesome pics and a great story.

Just one question: When Uncle Andrew puts on the brown costumed waders to transform into Angler X to fight Wipers....does he have to go into a phone booth?

Thanks Folks! This was a total blast! X 30,000!!!! We are already making plans for ice fishing and hitting some more crappie in the spring also!

OH BTW GA, It's funny you say that because Emily would ask me if I brought my brown fishing suit.
