Hawken, it was Dec 8th last year. But I am sure we were a 7-10 days late judging by the reports, so you better get moving.

My first day in Omaha last year was Dec 16th, but looking at my notes I was fishing the middle of a lake you normally can fish the coves of while the rest of the lake is still open, so I probably was late to the game.

Hopefully this year is similar (or stretched to 3 mos), as I lost a weekly committment so I should have one extra day a week to fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My compass says go north. Nate, John, Magnus????????

Dude...let's go. Yet again, I am un-attached during this ice-fishing season, so there shall be no squaw b*tching about me not being around. I'm ready as soon as I get a hut.

I was at Scheels yesterday buying ammo for pheasants this weekend and saw they started putting out some of their ice fishing stuff and it really got my blood pumping, I can't wait!!! I think I'm going to start looking for a gas auger.

Bring on the ice!!!

Last year I was fishing by the second weekend in December and the year before on the third weekend (I think). I sure hope it is the same this year . . . time to shoot some ducks, then shoot some deer, back to a few ducks and then on the FISHING

There was snow on the ground in the Sandhills when I was out there this weekend. We're headed in the right direction!

Thumbs up

My brother called this noon (10/27/08) while traveling up around Mason City, NE and said that the ducks were walking on the ice on some of the small ponds.

I told him if he ever saw a 6'5" 270# duck he should shoot it.

A friend from Alliance said that it was 9 degrees there last night.

I don't think that it is safe but we are getting closer.

Here we come Sandbilly; shut the door and turn off the lights or you're going to have company.
