Default Thanks Nefga!!!

I was one of the first ones that made the switch over from the NGPC forum and have watched it grow and go through tuff times from the beginning. I have learned a lot from this forum and there were very devoted people to really keep this forum going and my hats off to them. Thanks for everything you guys do.

That being said EVAN though i read the NGPC rule book every years doesn't mean I remember everything in it every time I'm out fishing. Kind of like i don't remember calculas or how to spell much from school. Every one breaks rules the main thing that counts is when confronted with the rule you broke you change and try not to do it again. There has been a couple occasions were i have done something wrong and didn't know to the point of saying it on the forum. I am thankful for them guys that PM me and let me know and i respect that they tell me for I learn from it. Usually once you break a rule and someone tells you you seem to remember it a bit better next time. So I respect that aspect of the forum.

I also have met numorous great people out here and have had great fishing trips with such forum members as Novato, Catfishsteve, chad, catcatcher311 and many others. Thanks for sharing your stories and helping me grow as a angler.

That being said I hope this forum is around for a long time and I can enjoy meeting more people from here and learning something new every time I go out.

THANKS NEFGA!!!!

Default It will never be th same

I used to love being in the water. Once I read about OBG at Two Rivers sitting in his float tube in his SPEEDO last summer, I am afraid to go back there. Then after I heard about his eating beans to propel his float tube, well, now I am terrified to go any local waters. "Their" you have it. I have OBGiatitiousis, a rare affliction centering around the fear of leopard print Speedo's on Old Bald Guys.

The forum transformed me from a pen pocket protector wearing nerd into a really swavey and deboner stud.

Wow, well, actually...yeah, wow.

This whole online community thing now known as NEFGA and going way back to the "old days" well, it means a whole lot to me. At the time I first really started to participate in this forum, back then (and it was a great forum then, made great by all the members. It's just that we have a better home now), you know, I hadn't even really thought a lot about ever putting it into words. Not sure that I can, completely.

Things were a lot different for me then. I had recently been divorced, recently sold my house and moved into a crappy little apartment, going through all that...ughh!

It's been so much more than about the fishing and hunting, trust me.

...and I'll always be grateful to you all!!

The one thing this forum has taught me is that knowing is half the battle.....wait, that was G.I. Joe....nevermind.

I joined in the spring but here are a few things.

1. I have gotten out to fish alot more but with less than stellar luck.

2. I have heard alot about lakes I didn't no existed.

3. I have become more jealous of those with access to private ponds, lakes, and sand pits as my non-bluegill fish totals from NE are terrible

4. I have enjoyed listening to stories both good and bad and learning from them.

5. I have done more fly fishing this year and have been more tempted to buy a float tube than ever before.

I believe Catfishsteve may have one for sale. Only used about 30 times if I remember...

Changed me.......not really. I DO pay attention to the fishing reports, and enjoy reading about the success and failures of of other members. Also, since the vast majority of people posting on this forum seem to be from Omaha/Lincoln area, I get to hear about lakes that I've only heard about but never been to.

I have become an NFGA junkie! I feel like I should be going to some kind of meetings on Tue. nights at 7:00, gathered in a circle, talking about my NFGA addiction.

Dam this websight for keeping me up past my bedtime!!

Speedo does make a FINE line of Life Jackets. Maybe this will help a bit with the "picture"...

I've enjoyed this site. Met a number of members already, sold some things, bought some things, learned an awful lot about fishing especially for species I was not familiar with before joining and reading posts on this site.
Have also seen some familiar faces now and then at the fishing holes when I go, that's a nice benefit.
I've mostly had very good experiences from the site. Hope any comments or postings I've put up have also been of benefit to others.
I have 3 boys and they have renewed a passion in me for fishing. Oh, its always been there inside me, but nice to see them catch on and gets me fired up to go and take them. I don't think there were very many weekends this spring and summer that I didn't get my 6 year old up at 4:30AM so we could load up our vehicle for some big adventure. I was able to get a lot of very nice pics of him with very nice fish, and hopefully made some great memories for him. I'm building a collage for his wall in his room, too.

Thanks, all.
Jim

That will help a lot. I will now try to picture OBG in his float tube wearing only a SPEEDO "Life Jacket". After eating beans..............yeah, that's the ticket!!!

Seriously though.......I agree with the earlier comment about feeling guilty About not going to a regular Tuesday meeting and confessing my addiction to the forum. It is only surpassed by my new boat payments.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, that the very first thing that the NEFGA forum taught me was that I wasn't NEAR as good as a fisherman as I thought I was...

Lots of exceptional fishermen on this site, who's line I am not worthy to spool.

Knowing you're such a serious guy, LundLover, I've sat down four times now to write a serious response to your question. Then I read the responses from others.

I'd say the biggest change is that there once was a time in my life when I was ridiculed only by friends, relatives, and co-workers...

Thanks for the compliment. Even though you may not be worthy to spool my line....you can surely come over in about 2 weeks and strip all the line off my reels and help get them stored away for winter. Plus,if ya want brownie points....carrying goose decoys from the shed to the garage, washing them off,and re-mudding some blinds would gain a few. Let me know.
