Hav2Hunt, I say a guy putting what looked like an 18 ft. mod-v in there the other day. The ramp is a pretty good one, so you should be good to go as long as you don't have a too deep of v or a boat over about 20 ft.

I'd be more worried about the vehicle being able to pull the boat up than the size of the boat!

Cottonmill is plenty deep for any boat you want to "launch". I should add, there is a 5 mph "no wake" regulation for the whole lake.

That was done so you didn't split in half CJ's fancy kayak...

There are some GREAT shallow flats next to several drops up to 16- 18', so the TOPO that Slimdog will have for you at the West Shelter "home site" will be handy to have. The water is plenty clear to avoid those areas at <5 mph. Unless you are fishing instead of boating...

We are still planning on attending the Kearney Event but we will be unable to bring the kayaks. I guess it is also a "shop till you drop" weekend as well.

We will bring along a couple poles though!

It was great meeting everybody today. Wish we could have spent more time at Cottonmill, but we had some shopping and other stuff to get done before going home. Thanks to Chad for running the contest and thanks to the anonymous donor for the youth division. Also a big thanks to Harold for setting up the Kearny event and for the shirt.

I got a hat and a T-shirt with a picture of a walleye on the front. (I don't think the girl from Cabela's appreciated the irony of giving me a walleye shirt. )

Here are a few more pix from yesterday:

Slimdog gets his door prize

CJ receives his award from Harold

BPbowhunter shows off the special NEFGA shirt Harold had made for him. (That's BP's parents in the background, over his shoulders, and MAmachine to the left.)

Great Time! Kudos to Harold and Slimdog for organizing such a nice event!

Nice job there in Kearney guys! Thanks Harold and Slimdog and the whole gang out there!!

Here's some pics from the awards ceremony at the Cabela's in LaVista!

Cabela's manager and our host for the day, Chris, helps Chad with drawing the winner of the walk-up prize!

Chad keeps the crowd riveted with yet another of his magic tricks as part of the warm-up festivities !!

...and now, the winners!!

bassnbaseball, our 2008 NEFGA Catch and Continue Contest Youth Divsion winner!

McKenzie receives her prize from Chad as our 2nd Runner-up in the Youth Division.

Huskerbowhunter, our 2008 Catch and Continue Champion and Chad has he receives his certificate for his pick-up truck load of stuff!!

...here's Aquaman, our 2008 NEFGA Catch and Continue Runner-UP

(for some reason, Chad was culled from this picture!)

...and Bugle 'em, our 2nd runner-UP

this event was a total blast. It was so great to meet the bunches of forum members who showed up, along with their families. I heard many of them say they were headed out to enjoy some fishing on the wonderful sunny afternoon that this was and so that was probably the best part of all.

Thanks again to Cabela's and to all of you who came out and to eveyone who supported the NEFGA 2008 Catch and Continue Contest and of course, to Chad for the great job in putting it all together!!

Default HORRAY for the NEFGA!

OK, the story Slimdog is probably passing on is Bullshed. I was up by 8:00 AM! Thanks to the BRETster... PhishDr.'s #1 son!

First and FOREMOST (a fitting adverb for a Cabela's sponsored event!), THANK YOU, NEFGA for this Forum and the opportunities the Members are provided! And THANK YOU Cabela's for your continued Sponsorship of NEFGA Events!

Thanks also go to Slimdog for ALL HIS ASSISTANCE and for providing additional photo's that will be posted shortly after I get done with this message of APPRECIATION!

Of course, we must thank OBG for his attendance. And (again) thank him for being OBG! There is a picture on the album (I know, I know, I'll shorten up this "speech" and get 'em posted... ) that shows his "serious side". Some may equal, but NO ONE EXCEEDS Rog's enthusiasm for fishing! His support for, and active involvement with the NEFGA members is paralleled by few! (Of course, by "few", I'm including YOU! There, did I "cover" my *****? )

Just a couple more notes... I found that "UglyMike" really ISN'T UGLY! As BIG as he is, even IF he was UGLY, you wouldn't hear it from ME!

Thanks go out to Lavern, our "Kearney Trolley" driver who willingly gave us a "tour" to Yanney Park after the Cabela's ceremony.

Erin Cartwright, our Kearney Cabela's Event Coordinator made sure that there were drawing prizes for everyone! The Event was held outside, and it was a BEAUTIFUL DAY! Thank you, Erin!

We had a good "showing" at the NEFGA get-together, and at the Cabela's ceremony! There IS a "test" with one of the "pictures" that is in the Album. So, to answer a post above this one, just MAYBE YOU will win a prize!

I'm not done, but I'm gonna move along....

Harold F.

OK, if this works, I'm done...

Cool! Since I wasn't able to be there in person, I sure enjoy seeing these kinds of recaps. Looks like another great time with NEFGA.

Harold, I have no clue what you are talking about!

It was great meeting everyone on Saturday. Thanks to NEFGA & Cabela's for sponsoring such a wonderful event.

A BIG thanks goes out to Harold. Folks, he was the man behind Saturday's event in Kearney. I just nodded my head when he needed a yes or no!

I also need to apologize to Uncle Harold. He made me one of those sweet NEFGA shirts and I forgot to put it on before we took the trolley to Cabela's. You see it is an extremely nice white shirt, but when I where a white shirt, it doesn't stay white for long! My goal was to keep it clean and put it on at the last minute. My mind forgot that goal.

I am already looking forward to next year. Hope to see you all on (or around) the water.

Slim
