What a bunch of (1) great looking fish and (2) weird looking people!

Only kidding (about the fish!) Nice work everyone.

Default WK1-Fiberglass Guy: LP=1.06 (8 1/2" GSF)

I have one more entry for week 1. South of 41 ran out of server space and I gave him the OK to email me a submission for his brother, and he got it in before the deadline. Then I forgot to check my email.

Entry is for Fiberglass Guy, a new NEFGA member with a nice gill!

From Slimdog's post above:

Week 2 entry 8 1/8" Bluegill. Big thanks to "Uncle" Harold for dragging out the boat. It was a great day of fishing. I'm sure he will regale you with tales of our outing...
Actually, (for some reason ) I have nothing for the "feast" to regale with!

This here is a good looking gill!

Could the gill week, be "Cut Week"? Really? Entries seem a little slow coming...

I tried last night to get a gill and I couldn't buy one. Caught lots of crappie and lots of bass. Then switched ponds and could only catch 3" gills. Oh well hope to get 'er done on Wed.

Hey Steve -- your neighbor called and would like you to return those bluegill that you took from his backyard pond

Looks like cut week for me... I have to work here on out and all I have been catching is 7-7/8 inch bluegills. Oh, btw, I got a 13" crappie on a popper in the shallows at Wehrspann... Where the heck are the bluegills with shoulders???

I know I have been having a TON of trouble getting past the little guys to the bigger ones. I wish I had the time to tie and try some of the flies I want to for bigger gills.

Un fortunately, the way many gills hit, you gotta set the hook on all of them, "just in case" when most of those tugs are gonna be the little guys racing in while the big cautious ones are still looking things over. . . .

From Daryl...

Quote:
One of my "speeches", #31 I believe, is that Nebraska may not have the amount of water that some of our neighboring states have, but Nebraska is truly where "east" meets "west" and "north" meets "south". We have a very diverse geography and a diversity of fish & wildlife. One thing I LOVE about the NEFGA fishing contest is that it requires participants to catch a diversity of fish! Perfect! Before the contest started I made the bold prediction that such a contest could be won by fishing public waters only. I still believe that is a possibilty but there surely have been some fantastic fish caught from private waters entered in the contest as well.

Another one of my speeches is to be versatile! Versatility is the hallmark of an expert angler; the ability to go anywhere, fish for anything and be successful; the ability to adapt and adjust to conditions. Again I love the NEFGA contest because it will reward those anglers who are the most versatile.

Lastly, I know nothing that gets people's attention, nothing that can be a better recruiting tool, than pictures of fish, big fish. Already we have seen pictures of some fantastic NEBRASKA fish (emphasis added intentionally!). Sure, we have our challenges, sure I wish certain fisheries were in better condition, but I learned a long time ago that "the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence". What a great demonstration of some of the fishing opportunities we do offer in Nebraska. What a great way to encourage more folks to get off the couch and experience some of the great outdoor recreational opportunities (fishing especially!) that we have. And what a great way to develop and encourage the anglers we currently have to keep them hooked!

GO FISH!
