Default New Fishing line recycling bins going in!

We're planning to install new bins this Saturday, June 14, at Zorinsky lake in Omaha. A big 'thank you' to Scheels and Heartland Muskie Hunters. We'll be at the boat dock at W at 9:00 in the morning
If you're interested in seeing what one of these things looks like or would just like to stop by and say "Hi", I'd love to see a bunch of folks from NEFGA come out for this since it's in town and folks might be out anyway.

That's great, Steve!
Do we have volunteers to manage these bins? I wouldn't be surprised if there were some members willing to help out at these locations, if needed.

I wish all lakes had these, I hate leaving all my used line on the shore.

My wife will be thrilled if we can get some recycling bins around Lincoln. She's pretty tired of me melting wads of fishing line in the fire pit every week. Fishing line needs to be recycled, not laying around as a hazard.
I'll admit it may be a little toxic as it melts.

I have to admit to making great use of these bins of late to dispose of bits and pieces of line fresh from battle. Great idea and great program -- Major thumbs up all around to the powers that be and the sponsors .

I would hope that it is a custom one that has a picture of you and pontoonfisher posed like the 2 guys from the cranberry commercials right next to the NEFGA logo

Thumbs up more bins going in!!

We'll have recycling bins going in out in Kearney next weekend and at Swan Lake, Walnut 2A and Olive Creek, all near Crete, NE sponsored by the Youth Governance Council (affiliated with the UNL extension program!!) on another weekend very soon.

I've been checking the bins at Canfields, Scheels and Louisville SRA over the past 2 months and I've got a huge box of line at my house now!
I just received a shipment of packing boxes from Berkley and will be packing one up to ship back to them soon.

(If you've been looking for a small way to help out with this program, may I suggest either buying some NEFGA stickers our even just hitting the "Donate" button over at our website at www.nefga.org and shooting a few bucks to us to help with our postage costs for mailing the line back to Berkley)

Don't forget tomorrow, Sat June 14 at 9:00 a.m. at the boat dock at Wehrspann Lake in Omaha (Sapp Brother's exit, hwy 50) we'll be putting line recycling bins in there and then also over at the handicapped fishing dock.

Hope to see some of you there. Maybe we'll take a group photo or something!!

Sorry, I missed you out there Icenut. I can arrange to get you some stickers!!

Here's a phone pic of the bin that we put in up at Prairie View this morning.

I think Roger and Alex should have some more pics from W to post here later.

Thanks to Alex (Holdemplyer) and his family and to OBG for coming out this morning!

Default Fishing line recycling bins in Kearney, NE

A big thanks to forum members Harold and Slimdog for meeting me in Kearney today and assisting with the installs of fishing line recycling bins at Cottonmill Lake and Ft. Kearney SRA.

Here's a picture of the bin at the boat dock at Cottonmill Lake. I think Harold will chime in here with a picture of the bin over at Ft. Kearney.

Thanks a bunch guys !!

You can view pics of most of the fishing line recycling bins in the Fishing Line Recycling Photo Album.
If you'd like more info on how you can assist with this program or sponsor a bin in your area, drop me a PM!!

Too bad I wasn't headed out to Kearney today to go scuba diving. I could have stopped by. Glad the bins are there, though!

What's the red "Stop Poaching" decal, Steve? That's new.

Al, the Super at Cottonmill brought a couple "Stop Poachers" stickers (available from the NGPC Office) and asked that they be added to the bins. His thought (and a great one) was that the more Red stickers, the better chance a "poacher" "Won't!"

At Catfishsteve's suggestion, I will have labels added that say:

Please,
NO TRASH

THANK YOU STEVE for making the trip... battling the "Eastern Weather"!

Here's the link to the Album...

(BTW, Slimdog has volunteered to collect line from both bins. "ATTABOY" Slimdog!

Sweet. Great to see these things going up. ALSO, if anyone pays attention, I would suspect that they are a nice recruitment tool for the NEFGA.

"Off the Record", of course!

When looking for a "best location" at Fort Kearny, with NO boat ramp available, the greatest "accumulation of visitors" determined the bin location. Hopefully, those using the Park will pick up line as they enjoy the Park, and deposit it in the bins as they pick up the Wierd Harold or Kearney Flub newspapers, or use the "facilities".

Anyone notice the NGPC fishing equipment loaner sign?

H
