Looking back over the past year, did you usually fish alone or with someone?

Given a choice, which do you prefer?

If the choice was "with someone," anyone special?

If the choice was "alone," do you talk to other anglers you encounter or ignore them?

(10-pt. Bonus Question: Do you think Catfishsteve would have more fishing buddies if he switched deodorants? :zrazzing: )

Sometimes I like to fish alone, but I like fishing with someone else too, or a group even. It just depends. It's fun to see other folks catching fish.
I enjoy a nice trip by myself sometimes too.

I'll go up to folks and chat them up on the lake, no problem. Most fisherman love to talk and are pretty friendly. Well, except for those float tube weed whacker types!

50/50
I talk to people but don't go out of my way.
When I fish with someone it's usually Craig Condello going to Kansas. We fish well together. Most of the time we use separate techniques and spread out to cover more ground. But I have some friends that I don't mind sharing a wind driven point with also. I always seem to run into Sam, or Daryl. But met some people over the years that are OK to fish with.
When I fish alone-there's normally a reason. To get away from it all. I'm a friendly person most of the time but if someone ever comes blowing in on me while wipers are busting shad I can turn very irate in seconds..

I'll take 20 bonus points and suggest that Catfishsteve FIRST starts to use deodorant!!!:zsick:

70/30

I fish alone a lot and enjoy it. Also make it out a fair amount with Deas, Burro and Steve among many other members from the forum.

Yes. :d I enjoy solitude at times. There is something about sitting in a float tube in the back finger of a little know fishing hole soaking everything up. But also enjoy sharing a starry July night with some friends waiting for something to pick up that fresh cutbait, shooting the breeze. I guess any chance to be outdoors I will take, but there are times that, if given the choice, I would go by myself.

Anymore, I prefer just Brandon and myself. Don't mind an occassional friend to come along but ya gotta watch who ya take to the good spots. I like fishing with Bo but then he'll bring his buddy Blaydese along and that kinda spoils it for me. :zcoffee:

The last couple of years I have gone by my self the majority of the time, since I have moved to Omaha I haven't met any fishing partners. My wife goes with me on occasion. Having some one else fishing for the same type of fish can be helpful with figuring out what is going to work at that time. But even when I do fish with someone else I don't do a lot of idle chit-chatting. Most of the time I enjoy the solitude of fishing by myself and getting away from everyone and everything else. Of course that could change if some one has a sweet farm pond they want me to fish with them or someone has room in the back of a boat for me. I do enjoy chatting other anglers up as we pass one another, that is when you can hear some of the good "fish tales" like the one about the 10 lb bass a guy caught out of the Lake Side hospital pond and took it home for dinner.
what's deodorant??

I like going fishing by myself quite a bit, however my father is really the fishing buddy and he goes the majority of the time. This last year however I was privilaged to fish with quite a bit from the forum. Steve, Brandon, Alex, Adam, Andy, Ralphie, and Novato at least all of them I have fished with once last year. Caught my biggest fish with Adam and Andy...I would like to meet a lot more of you and hang out and fish this next year.

I really think we should get a forum sponsored meet n greet fishing outing to a local lake next year.

I do like having the GF along catching crappie while I am trying to catch some cats...I like seeing the joy in her eyes when she out fishes me.

Alex you don't wanna take me anymore because the time I went with ya I jinxed your fishin holes...I know how it goes....:zrazzing:

I enjoy fishing with others a lot more than fishing by myself. Its fun to occasionally fish by myself but if i had the choice i would always fish with someone else. I just miss having someone else to share the experience with.

Ive only met one other forum member that i know of and would also be in favor of a meet n greet.

I love the quiet time alone, but it is nice to have others with you to try diff things and find what is working. I usually go with my brother when I do take someone. We hopfully will get a boat this year and be a little more productive. I would have to say 30 percent alone , 70 percent with someone else.

I usually found myself fishing with someone. It was a person that I met when fishing alone. I was getting ready to setup at wagontrain and the person said to stay close because he likes to have someone to chat with. So I did and it was great. The rest of the year I never went out by myself. He was very knowledgable about fishing and being new to fishing it was good. We also explored several different fishing spots that I didn't even know about. I always call this person to see if they want to fish if I am going. The person is darealgodfather from this forum. He is fairly new to the forum and doesn't post much but does read a lot. We usually had pretty good luck. Also was able to go out a few times with my sister which was great. She lives in Chadron and I in lincoln. Took her out here a couple of times and the time we went out in chadron I caught my only MA catfish so that was a special time that I will always remember as will she. She caught me the blue gill for bait. So without her it wouldn't have happened.

I enjoy fishing with other people but due to my location I usually fish alone. The wife does not fish as much as she used to. I always enjoy talking to other fishermen.

Prefer to fish with someone...have taken more than a few out in the last couple of years...

Wasn't always like this, but then I joined a club and really started to enjoy fishing with someone else. But alone is great too

doesn't deodorant scare the fish?:?

I love to fish with the kids and such -- but nothing can compare to the tranquility of going it alone....Especially after having to deal with people all day every day at work.

Prefer to fish with someone, usually my regular fishing buddy. Also love to fish with my son and grandkids. Used to be a large group of us that would go on a trip every year, usually 3 or 4 boats, and was a great time, but most of those old buddies have died or can't get into a boat any more. (Showing my age) But I can sure understand the point of view of those that prefer to fish solo. 8)

I prefer to fish alone, but I do have a few select people that I will fish with on a semi regular basis.

I fish 99.9 % of the time with my wife. She has sat in pouring rain at 45 degrees for hours just to catch one fish which happened to be a 41 lb striper. We have fished some wiper tourneys down at Milford when the wind and rain were so bad others wouldnt even fish. She will go ice fishing anytime and usually wont give up til the last minute. She is the best fishing partner ever.
