Wink NEFGA Fly Tiers Collection - Flies Due May 31

NEFGA Fly Tiers,

A small group of NEFGA members have decided to create a collection of NEFGA-Member Flies. This will be a good opportunity to highlight member creativity/talent and raise funds to help support the forum. Details are below.

If you're interested in participating, post to this thread and indicate the pattern(s) you would like to submit.

I would like to have all flies by the end of May.

NEFGA Fly Tiers Collection

1. The collection will be viewable on the NEFGA webiste and be organized by tiers name and fly type.

2. Participating tiers will email a picture of themselves with short (1 to 2 paragraphs) biographical sketches to chad@nefga.org for use in the collection. Tiers are welcome to include additional information and/or links on their tiers page.

3. Tiers will deliver 5 flies of each submitted pattern (along with recipes, instructions optional) to Chad (PM me when you have the flies), the fly will be photographed for display in the collection. All 5 flies will be retained by NEFGA. One fly will become part of the permanent NEFGA Fly Tiers Collection. One fly will be used for promotional purposes (i.e. fish caught on NEFGA Flies will be displayed on the forum with links back to the collection to drive traffic and interest). The final three flies will be part of an annual silent auction to support NEFGA.

Thanks in advance to everyone who agrees to participate! Perhaps we can do this once a year, and build a pretty cool collection as time goes by.

Again, when you have your contributions ready, just send me a PM and we'll connect for the hand off.

By the way, the only "guidelines" are that you submit 5 flies for each pattern. You can do as many (or as few) patterns as you like. They do not have to be originals. It would be cool if they "worked around here", but your call.

Also, when you know what patterns you would like to contribute, post that here, to avoid excessive duplication of patterns.

You mean, they actually catch a fish? I knew there had to be a catch.

I'm in for five "Jarred's Silver Crappie Killers," if I don't lose them all in the trees first.

I'll go in with 5 Trude Style Royal Coachman.

If I can scrape together the time, I will also go with a set of Faux Beadhead Dog's Butt's.

Should be fun!

This alone, boys and girls, should be worth the price of admission.

I don't feel like a real flyfisherman when I don't tie my own. One of these days. Maybe when my recently acquired mustache gets as good as Rogers, I'll be ready.

Too many things, too little time.

I did mention to Chad that I would be happy to try out anything you guys need trying out

Default My contribution!!!

I will tie Al Campbell's Crappie Candy for my streamer addition.

For my Verdigre nymph (and my April 8th crappie killer) is the Rubber-legged Epoxy-backed Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear.

I will take a request for the 3rd fly that I will tie... any suggestions

Please let me know what you want for the 3rd, I mean it!!!

Scott

Count me in for a shad dart, or a bully spider, and /or possibly a home made pattern as well.

I would post some pictures but my camera is crap.

If you just get me the 5 flies for each pattern, I will get quality photographs of everyone's contributions.

There is still time for others to get involved if interested. Flies are due to me by the end of May. PM me when they are ready.

Thanks everyone!

How do you do your leeches, Jarred? I read somewhere not long ago about a guy who used strips of dyed chamois -- sounded plausible to me.

Hows about zonker strips,, bunny hides, I tried to fool the Walleye at Merrit last year with them, alas, not much luck, but that was as close to a leach as I could come up with. Please understand it sounded good in theroy at the time.-----------Greg

I think Ill use zonker strips looks about the easiest way to make a long tail, then some marabou for the head/body area. Ill make em long and thin, hopefully to fool some 20+" trout this summer if you know what I mean.
