![]() Tell me if I understand this correctly. A District 6 member of the Commission was appointed this year. That term will expire Jan. 15, 2012? Also, the way I read: (c) At least three members of the commission shall be actually engaged in agricultural pursuits.: OBG can grow an acre of asparagus for the farmers market and be considered as such? Just shooting ??? Unfortunately my research time has been somewhat limited due too calving. Thanks, dc |

members shall begin on January 15, and the term of the at-large member shall begin January 15, 2009." Sandbilly, if your Dist. 6 commissioner was appointed already "this year" (meaning 2008), it would be a 5-year appointment under current law expiring 2013, wouldn't it? So, based on the amendment wording above, that commissioner's term in office would be extended one year to 2014, wouldn't it? I dunno. One acre of asparagus? Do you have any idea how much work it would take to plant, cultivate, and harvest one acre of asparagus? I'd have to hire someone without a green card! ![]()

SO, under the terms of LB1049, when would the commissioners terms expire...
Pinkerton 2009? Stave 2011? Jensen 2012? Zeibarth 2010? Burke 2011? Berggren 2014? Hall 2009? Forney 2014? I dont think I have that correct, can anybody please list the way it should be? Thanks |

LB1049 was approved on final reading Monday and has been sent to the Governor for his signature.
The bill would increase the number of Nebraska Game and Parks commissioners from eight to nine, to include one new "at large" commissioner; reduce their terms of office from five to four years while providing for the possibility of a four-year second term; broaden the qualifications for agricultural representation; eliminate the requirement that two of the three ag appointees live on a farm or ranch; and clarify that an appointee's political party (no more than 5 of the 9 can be from one party) is determined by the appointee's registration at the time of the last general election prior to the appointment.
