Default Is it just me or am I seeing signs of autumn?

The past few mornings have had a twinge of autumn in the air it seems. I think I can see yellow in some trees already.

Or am I just imagining things? Wishful thinking?

Generic and I were discussing that out at Louisville last week. A tree was dropping yellow leaves.... the longer ice stays away, the happier I'll be.

Remembering how much Kenz hated being cold, I guess she must get that from her dad.

There have been signs of autumn, seemingly, for a few weeks now. One place I know that has a mouse problem every fall has mice coming indoors already. The starlings seem to be gathering into those huge flocks earlier than usual, too.

Larger than normal groups of seagulls are forming near Willmar, MN at this time. Just saw them yesterday and others in the car were a little surprised.

No kidding....One day I was roasting and cussing the cotton on the water in the dog days of summer, and the next we were having yellow leaves drift down where the cotton had just been.......This summer has gone way fast.

Like I took a nap and missed 30 days or so of good fishing.

IF fall is around the corner, I wonder what Al Gore will say?

I've been seeing tons of robins along gravel roads. It's almost as if they are staging for migration.

I don't mind the cold, but do you have any idea how hard it is to kick around a lake that's covered in ice with a float tube?

Hey...that's not a bad idea. It can carry all of my gear and everything. Just slide across the lake and have one of your kids pull me around.

Trees may experience early leaf drop following hot dry conditions that were preceeded by wet, lush springs. We've had both. It's the trees way of balancing root and crown growth during times of stress.

Although, I'm not opposed to an early fall...

Early fall could mean early ice. And THAT would be a good thing :-)

Maybe it will actually be cool or cold for the rut this year if the fall is coming so early.
