Default Snakes

Someone sent me this as one of a series of photos reportedly taken on Mother's Day, just outside of Scottsbluff. The email states they were taken by a local vet and were even signed by a vet who does indeed practice in Scottsbluff.

Could this be legit? Biologically speaking, yes, I have no doubt you can find a den like this in the panhandle. I'm just wondering if that is the true source of the photos, or if it is like some of those mountain lion photos that supposedly are taken in about 50 different locations...

Anybody seen this before, attributed to anywhere else?

Scott

beats me as to it's origin. I like snakes, have caught rattlers before, but that would make me go the long way around!

Wow...have you called the vet? I'm sure he's gotten plenty of calls about it but I'm curious now.

Imagine how many belts and hat-bands that would make?

Guess I won't be visiting Scottsbluff anytime soon.

I have 5 digital pics sent in from an inspection in Kingman, AZ.....(I have a copy of the originals.) Guess what.....the picture on here looks like a match.

Note: I am not the one circulating these pics....I just saw this post and it looked familiar, so I went and pulled the "brick" that inspector sent in...and the pictures looked pretty darn close. I know for a fact that the inspector sent an email to everyone in his address book a couple of the pictures before sending the brick into me....and that can explain how it is making the rounds.

this looks to be the one that is making the rounds:

I have the complete set of seven uploaded to my Picasa account:

Picasa Web Albums - Scott - Snakes!

You can view and compare them there if you would like.

There really is a vet by the name mentioned in Gering, but I don't really feel like calling him and sounding stupid... "Hey, uh, I got these pictures in my email, and they supposedly came from you.."

I've tried some Google and Google image searches and have yet to come up with anything attributing them from anywhere else, but you never know. And why I really care, I'm not sure...

That picture of the den of vipers has been haunting me since I first looked at it this morning, Scott. I knew I'd seen a scene like that somewhere, but I couldn't remember where. It finally came to me as I was driving home from the lake tonight: it's the Personnel Department at a place I used to work.

Now that GA uploaded his, yep, they are an exact match to the ones I received.

Gotta love how these things grow on the internet. Like I said, the ones I had were signed by a vet in Gering taking credit for them and stating they were taken outside of Scottsbluff. It had been forwarded so many times his email was long since lost, otherwise I'd have emailed him. I won't post his name, just 'cause I don't want to put it out there so somebody can call him.

I did forward the email to some NGPC staff up there to see that they say, but haven't heard back. In the meantime, I suppose we could apply the Mythbusters/NEFGA label of "Plausable" to this one (because they theoretically COULD be from Nebraska, but we really don't know)?

Now, the dead hawk in a tree is real, I swear. I took those pictures and I have a witness!

I would prefer they be somewhere far away from NE. I had hoped I had left those dens behind when I lived in the desert. We used to chase coyotes on our motor bikes through the sage brush when we were kids and would always stir up the rattle snakes or when we were grouse hunting.....and came upon a few rattlesnake habitats that I have an unpleasant dream or 2 about.....Or when I had a summer job changing combine blades on the dry farm --- All reasons I do not like snakes I am a bit suspicious where these pictures came from....because the size of the inspectors regular photos were much bigger than the ones of the snakes. I will have to call him and ask him where they really came from.

That is nicer than what I was thinking.....Something about that picture had me thinking of when my wife gets together with her sisters and mom.

That's just creepy.

Anyone remember that John Wayne movie where that annoying little girl fell into the rattle snake pit? I saw that when I was a kid and that creeped my out for years.

True Grit.

Now, for the grand prize, name the Civil War battle where Rooster lost his eye.

I seen these pics on the City Data forums when you posted them there. I also seen them on another outdoors forum then shortly afterwards stating they were taken in Arizona also.

Thanks Scott for answering my questions on these photos also.
