Default Eastern Bluebirds

Well after 2 years of wrens in my bluebird house, I have finally gotten some bluebirds. My neighbor down the street has them every year and they always had visited by bird bath, but I think they may have finally moved in. The last time I looked there wasn't much of a nest in the house, but they sure do hang out by it and go it now so maybe they are house hunting. I got these pics last weekend in the nice weather. Does anyone else get bluebirds? I am going to read up on them again and see if I can figure out when they may start laying eggs, etc. They are so cool.

GREAT pics! You must have a nice camera. Are you in a blind, or are those from a window? Fun!

I was standing quietly behind my shed sneaking peeks. They really didn't pay me much mind at all. I was a bit suprised, I guess they were more interested in the house then me. I also have 18x optical zoom, and I can take 15 frames per second, so that helps as well.

Well I am really bummed out. After all this, I think a sparrow has chased away the bluebirds. I have not seen them in 4 days. But I saw a sparrow going in the house yesterday, needless to say I chased it away, but I think he has already done the damage. I was so looking forward to baby bluebirds this year.

I don't suppose they went too far away. Maybe you'll still see them in the neighborhood this summer. I'm looking forward to more pictures!

If I could with the BB's I would, but I can't so I just kept chasing them away and cleaning out the bluebird house. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't of cared if someone else did it, I just can't myself. Anyhow, I have not seen the sparrows around the bluebird house lately but today I noticed a sparrow up in a swallows nest on my front porch. Which I can live with I guess for this year. Also, I have seen a pair of bluebirds in my 2nd bluebird house I have back down at the edge of the field behind my backyard. So hopefully they have decided to move in there. I am keeping watch.

I absolutely love blue birds. Great pictures. A relative of ours in Kansas is a member of a BlueBird Association of some sort. Now that's loving birds.

I am happy again. I saw a pair of bluebirds going in my house right in my back yard again. I guess now that I have finally chased the sparrows away, my bluebirds have either come back or a new pair has come.
YEAH!
I tried to get some close pics, but they were not cooperating at all last night, so I just kept my distance for now. I got a few shots from the back porch and will see if any are worth posting tonight, but am hopeful again I may have baby bluebirds yet. Then I hope to get some good pics.
I believe I am actually a memeber of that bluebird association too, the houses were a gift to me and they came with some bluebird paperwork. Maybe I will finally get a chance to fill out that paperwork!

Nice pictures.

I have a pair of cardinals that have decided to move into my neighborhood. Not sure where they are living, but they sure do like to sit in my tree and sing. My backyard tree is level with my kitchen window so it's a nice view.

I watched a pair of bluebirds for awhile at Swan Creek WMA the other day. Then this past Sunday I got the pleasure of seeing and identifying a bird I'd never seen outside of a field guide. It was a yellow-rumped warbler (formerly known as an Audubon warbler). I love it when I see and identify a bird I haven't seen before! No pics, unfortunately, but here's a link: Nebraska Game and Parks Commission - Birds of Nebraska Guide

I spotted a whole flock down by the Missouri River near Peru on Sunday. They're migrating through, as they don't nest in Nebraska except for the tip of the panhandle.

I love the cardinals singing. I think they sound so cool. I get tons of them in my yard. Over the winter when they feed I have counted up to 20 males at one time!!! Cool about the yellow rumped warbler, I don't know if I have ever seen one of those. I keep track of everything that comes to my yard. I did get a pic of a different looking bird this last winter, it was kind of golden I may have to look at it again and see what it was.

Now here are pics I got of my bluebirds a couple nights ago...

And I got these shots tonight, not the best lighting and I have been playing with the settings on my camera. But it shows they are building their nest. Yahoo!

Those are sweet pics!! Wish I had more birds in the yard.

As for the pics, if the camera has a backlighting setting, give that a try. If it is more of a 'pro' model, it will have a +_ EV setting, go to the plus side probably +2 or so.
