We're going to run a little muskie fishing contest, in two parts: a random drawing for your effort and a big-fish prize. The contest will begin as soon as your favorite lake has open water! There are "special" rules which apply so, make sure you read through them carefully....
The Angler who submits the “Big Fish” for 2008 will win a new St. Croix Premier® 6’6” MH, 1 piece, all-purpose rod. The rod in question is Mod # PM66MHF, is good for lures in the ¾ - 3oz. range - a $130 rod, your's simply for catching the biggest muskie of '08! For the manufacturer’s rod specs, click here. Winners will be announced at our November general meeting at Scheels All Sports in Omaha at 6:30pm. You need not be present to win. Winners not present will be contacted via the forum private message system. In the event the winner cannot be reached within 30 days, an alternate will be chosen. Contest rules:
The best measurement device is one in which the protective surface also contains the measurement device. The most accurate measurement is when the measurement device is on a flat surface with the muskie laid on top of it.
Cleithrum Study If you purposefully harvest a legal 40-inch+ fish or, if it dies despite your best efforts to release the fish - PLEASE consider donating the Cleithrum bones to our research study. The growth rings on the cleithrum bone are a very accurate measurement of age. Obtaining length, girth, and age, we can get a clearer picture of how the muskellunge program is performing. Right now, NGPC has virtually no data on growth/age past age 3, since most of their data is obtained via scale samples - which are not very reliable. Those cleithral bones are very important to our research on muskies in Nebraska!!! Call me at 402-376-2743, as soon as possible after the catch, and I will let you know where to find the bones (they're very easy to find & remove). If you intend on mounting the fish, I'll gladly work with your taxidermist to collect the bones. Sharpen those hooks and let the fun begin! Last edited by Brian; 03-11-2008 at 12:38 PM. |

Here's one from Dec 5th. How about sliding this one in a separate, non hook and line division?

As much as I'd like to see this fish in the contest....given the circumstances surrounding the "catch", she's not eligible.
Y'all lucked out....you won't have to compete against this very nice fish! - B
