What is your favorite piece of structure? Your answer could be specific like the handicapped dock at Zorinsky, less specific like there is this weed bed in Canada..., or very general like I try to fish rockpoints. Some of us who have been chasing these toothy critters for a while will have several I would guess. Here is one of mine, My favorite spot right now. On Lake of the Woods there is a pair of islands that meet in a little saddle and there is hardly a bad cast within 100 yards of any part of the shore of both of these little jewels. Throw in a little wind current and some baitfish and it gets downright nasty. EsoxJunkie, you know where!

I have a favorite island in the Tug Channel area that has been good to me over the years. It's easy to identify. It has rocks and trees on it.
![]() Gimme a rocky point with a little cabbage point on it and I'll be happy.

my favorite piece of structure is the one the muskies are using at the time!
I knew those 2 islands would be in the subject when I read the topic Chris! So many great spots on LOTW, I don't know where to start. A few are saddles, a few are midlake rocks/reefs... How about this: a lake like Cass, that has a limited number of goose-bumpy, rotator-cuff ripping, teeth-clenching, rear-end puckering, knee-shaking spots is easier for me to pin down a few faves- 1) A small Tahoe sized cabbage bed out on the end of a point that very few people know about. 2) A west-facing shoreline with reeds on top, cabbage growing down the steep drop all the way to 17' or so and you're casting to them while the boat is over 26'. 3) A 3-4' sand bar that sticks way out into the lake, with a few boulders on the edge where it drops to 50' in a boat length. And then of course, there's this dead tree in the water about 50yards off the shore of Wagon Train... Jamie |

Frank,
If you know where these are specifically you are the only one. I see no spot from you here. This would be a great thread for your expertise (non-specific of course). Junkie, one word... Maytag. Hey Junkie by the way you say the favorite is the one the muskies are using at the time. I have fished with you long enough to know that the one you are on is either your favorite or least favorite based on how the day (fish) is going

Ok, Junkie how about another Island saddle that is a bunch larger with "access to the big water" that produced my only double 40+ double so far. It is a boulder, cabbage, drop off, coontail, Frag, foodshelf complex that can hold multiple fish on good days.
Or, elsewhere in Canada, is a small island that seems to be good for a follow from a "nice" one at least half of the times that you fish it. It is within sight of a bigger island complex that once produced ten follows from distinctly diferent fish within one hour. Or, the spot on Cass where I should have figure eighted that pike I caught on a believer... can one fish make a spot good?
